The article is poor in taste and biased.The author writes that Ismail Durbar has knowledge more than the nowledge of other 2 judges put togrther.It is obvious that the article is aimed for promoting certain unhealthy view.Such type of poor article should not be published.The credibility of Outlook is undoubtedly extremely poor.
I agree with the author for most part. However, I disagree with the statement that we alienate Muslims or People from North East by not supporting Debojit.
People understand that guy/gal with right talent should win. Sure there are people who go by sentiment or emotions instead of talent.
Key thing is that people should remember who is performing well, consistently.
In my opinion, I do not think Debojit will not stand a chance. The reason this is that he lacks punch or does not put himself 100% into songs for whatever reason. And that can be a major problem. However, I must last performance was excellent and in fact mind blowing. That way, he is inconsistent.
My favorite would be Vinit though his voice cracks at times but that can be fixed with proper riyaaz and may be due to age factor.
I think there is something to be noted. I am not a regular viewer of Saregamapa. But i did watch it in my friends place a couple of times. I do watch a lot of videos of the show at sify.com. It is not true as claimed in the article that the host of the show never tell how many votes the other participants got from their own states. I still remember that vinit from UP got around 17% of votes from UP. he did mention that. So i think ur claim is wrong. U might have missed the part. It doesn't mean that there is a conspiracy against Debojit if u have missed the show or if u have seen it only a couple of times. It is all fair. And ur claim that Debojit got all the votes from North East is wrong. The lady who said that it is assam ki voice was right with the facts... I do not advocate her comments. But it is true that Debojit got more than 70% from Assam alone and not from the entire north east.
I think ur heart should go out for the best singer and not Debojit becoz the whole purpose of the show is to find the best singer.
Ya, I know...the sign-off to the article said that these were the writer's personal views...but I must say that the article, on the face of it, is shamelessly biased. It throws no more than the writer's seteotypical views on the readers. Wonder how such stuff could figure on Page 1 of the website. By the way....it makes me think - is Mr. Puri from the Northeast or has a personal fix there. Who knows......and also...I would wanna know how much he knows about music.
Seems the author has got his own choices .How can rediff publish such an article..Instead if author is really interested ..try probing all the wrong things that are going on with Zee\'s Saregamapa..Dont just support selective participants..
It is stupidity of Zee channel to allow those singers to continue who want to walk out. Just let them go since they are not accepting the Public voting. Coming to mentors in the show except for Ismailji all others apprciate most of the time only lads from their gharana and not how they are performing on that day. Vinit is good singer but he is not great singer compared to others on the show and his mentor Himesh ji...I don't know what he thinks of himself.He just started his carrier and with the type of his routine music..I don't think he will be there in the field for long and every time he has only one song to sing...ashique banaye apne. He tells public to vote to vinit just to win not to make a good singer from the competition. I think most of the janata who watch sa re ga...will have same opinion. Its shame on Zee, mentors and the participants who are making this drama on national television.
Mahesh, the muslims are alienating themselves more than we are. In fact, we are going out of the way to vote for a substandard Qazi Tauqeer. So, you see, hindus do not have a religious bias.
