Sometime i think, why do we loose good people. Its indeed a good article. And a sad one too.Its indeed an end of an era of good decent film .God Bless his soul.
In the article you have mentioned why he is not comparable with Satyajit Ray. One of the reason could be one belong to the commercial Part of the industry and another was more into truth finder of the society. But no doubt Hrithik Mukherjee was a greate director. Star like Amitav used to look forward towards him to get roles. If u ask me tell me one flim you remember , the first name will be golmal. Todays actors and directors should understand that without skin show and voilence a flim can be a super hit and get awards.
I love the films of Hrishida.. goolmal, anand, chup k chup k few of them which will never be removed from the minds of the people.... and true to saying we never feel awkward while watching his movie with the family. Gr8 work by gr8 sense of humour n emotion.
Its a great loss to Indian cinema. Hrishida is no more with us...A man who was so close to Raj Kapoor as when Raj Kapoor was ill, he could not come to fact that his beloved friend wont be with him any more and wrote Anand. Many few people know that it was Hrishida who gave boost to Amitabh Bachchan who had a company called Amya (AMitabh jaYA) productions, Amitabh would go on holi days to sing mere angne mei tumhara kya kaam hei much before that film song came in Laawaris. Dharmendra use to be reading the script so sincerely so that he can perform well in front of Hrishida. Amitabh Bachchan did reharsals for days for the climax version of Anand only to be turned off by the director who told that anyone can do drama, i want you to be sustaining and with intensity...Such director wont be there again who has started with Bimal roy, Raj Kapoor and boosted the stars of heydays like Dharmendra,Bachchans,Palekars and many bengali personalities.
He had his own set of unit members till his last film. There was a joke that its very difficult for Hrishida to get him out of studio as many of his films were shot indoors. Yet the man was subtle, gentle and often emotional.Farewell Hrishida
