Rani's unhappiness is not Justified
by Rakhi on Sep 02, 2006 02:27 PM

The all I cudnt understand is Rani's unhappiness. She had a problem in Abhishek's keen interest for physical relationship. and on the other side she gets intemate with Shahrukh.

I dont know why Rani was this much un happy with Abhishek.. just because he was a party goer?

KANK - good/bad movie?
by Jessica on Aug 28, 2006 09:50 PM

There is no doubt about it, KANK is a brilliant movie in terms of acting performances, cinematography, dialogues and directorship. Some orthodox people are bound to criticise KANK but the actors are simply playing a role. They are trying to portray real life and we all know that life is not at all rosy.

Looking at the way SRK keeps grumbling etc, it is no wonder that his marriage is in trouble but when he finally have an affair, you would not think that he will spend his time crying. To put it crudely, he should have been seen enjoying the sex and not crying like a baby.

But why Rani is not happy in her marriage? What woman would not like to have a husband who loves her above all? But she thinks something is lacking and so she have an affair with a grumbling disenchanted man. There is simply no logic in this.

But I think we should congratulate SRK for daring to take a negative role now at the peak of his career. He plays the role really well and we can't help but hate him and feel sorry for Preity. Although she did neglect her family to some extent, this is no reason to have for your husband to have an affair.

KANK review

Karan gives no reason for the affair between SRK and Rani. Just because they were the problem in their respective marriages was no justification in having an affair. SRK was bitter and angry throught the movie. Rani was cold and unreceptive towards her husband's advances.

SRK didn't know how to woo his wife and was getting tips from Rani! How did SRK and Rani figure that their relationship would work out when they couldn't even make it work with their spouses. Rani had a problem sleeping with her husband but had no qualms about sleeping with SRK.

This was one of the worst half-baked movies I saw this year. And yes, it needed to end way sooner than it did. I think it should have ended after everyone parted ways and was living happily or unhappily thier separate lives as singles.

KANK review
by pdevil on Aug 27, 2006 10:26 PM

Don't know what Karan Johar was thinking making this movie. First there was no reason for either SRK's or Rani's character for cheating on their respective spouses. Then after the affair has eneded why would you go and confess? Was it to add insult to injury? Especially in the case of Rani, who drops this bomb on Abhishek after the loss of his father!
SRK, on the other hand plays a disgruntled soccer player in a country where most people don't even watch let alone play soccer. Karan even goes to show such a fan following and million dollar contracts for soccer when most people in the US don't even know the first thing about soccer.
Like pointed out by many reviewers, the saving graces of the movie were Abhishek, Preity and Amitabh. Abhishek outshone SRK and even his father everytime he came on screen. You're practically waiting for him to make an appearance and make the movie watchable! Preity plays a strong and confident woman and pulls it off beautifully even though some of the dialogues given to her were superficial. She is excellent as a career woman who would have no problem being a single mom. Go Preity! Amitabh does a great job as a skirt chaser comic relief.

Thumbs down for kank and srk
by manu on Aug 27, 2006 06:28 PM

It was a total dissappointment for me at the very beginning when i went to a theatre showing kank, bcoz there were hardly 20 people for a matinne show, @ Bangalore. I thought what could b the reason. When the film ended by evening, i was totally in shock.
In the first place, what srk was thinking when he signed for this film. Karan johar is extremely gone over-board this time. His movie kank is a total failure and no fool in this world will accept such a tragic ending, given for this movie. Srk's character is totally unacceptable. As for acting is concerned, srk always does hamming in karan johar's movies. His natural instinct will be gone in order to bring some stupid emotions on his face. Srk, please stop doing johar's movies. The theatre which was showing kank in FIRST week had 20 people occupying balcony against 450, while rear class had 30 against 650. So in what way this movies is a blockbuster???????

KANK:KUCH ACHA NAZARIYA KAHTEY!
by Anil on Aug 27, 2006 01:25 PM

Emotions are the sensitive ommissions in humans and they require extra care to be expolited. KANK is the distorted version betweeen sick emotions on one hand that likes to get carried away from traditional and proven human values and on other hand about irrational Western influences that believes in crossing all boundaries of compassion, love, surrender and faith. Media has blown out of proportions when it feels the liberty and arrogance to express crooked mind and values of present time under those influences which divide two human souls.

Mr. KARAN, for me your KANK compels only one meaning: KUCH AACHA NAZARIYA KAHTEY!......

KANK TANKs!!
by Shilpa Chahal on Aug 27, 2006 10:58 AM

Have to borrow a line from a recent review, KANK TANKS!
Indeed this is K. Jo\'s worst film! I liked some parts of it for comedy and emotional content.
Agree with most of the other reviews...
Preity and Abhishek are simply super and so is Kiron Kher, much better actress than her overacting husband Anupam! The premise for the moive in itself is wrong. Rani has no reason to cheat on the wonderful husband played by Abhishek. From the beginnging, she is a disgruntled, unhappy woman who goes from bad to worse after marriage. SRK is an angry not so young man without a cause..there is nothing wrong with his wife, she is the man of the house as Preity later says, is a nice person and really attractive compared to him. I wish Abhi and Preity had gotten together and dumped the other two. Used to really like SRK and Rani had really done a great job in recent times. After KANK, I am not impressed with either of them and will have to be selective in viewing their films.
KANK could have been much better with some great editing, the story needed to be revamped. The hotel room scene where SRK and Rani sneak to get a hot night of passion sucks big time.
KANK essentially TANKED!
