Problem with KANK is that, though Karan had a passably good story at hand, he has converted it into an unwanted long love story. The fact that the love is extra marriatal becomes just a backdrop... there is where the fault lies.
In fact, sometime at the end of the story when Abhishek asks Rani to go ahead and reunite with SRK, I had already forgotten that it was Husband asking his wife to go and unite with another man, so the whole impact was lost.. all due to the length and unwanted over emotional and weepy sequences.
And yes, I agree completely that SRK is the one who pulls the film down. Sorry Karan, that platform on which you banked the most turned out to be shaky itself. I would urge Karan to try to make movies without SRK starring in them (maybe he can have him as exec producer or something to have him on sets for moral support, but thats it) SRK's character irritated more than conveying the pathos and egoistic nature.

It's a useless movie to see. Two people who are unhappy with their loving partners , for no damn reason , looking for someone else eagerly to go and sleep with. The most stupid thing is that the director is justifying the fact that if you are not happy with your partner , don't solve the matter , go find somebody as unhappy as you and sleep with him , get divorced and live happily ever after.

This film is the rubbish stuff which i have ever seen in the film industry ths indian role models are acting in such a way then what will be young generation going to do affairs after marriages. That skr roles suits to imran hashmi and big b what is happening to him indian respect him and want to see him in good roles what he is doing to be honest if this actors do this sorts of films what will be left between east and west there is no point of watching indian movies when u dont have any indian variety in them .kank is a western movie that is like hollywood whats the point of watching an hindi movie which is completely english.

i dont understand the hullabaloo about kank.all needs tobe said is that karan johar has a hang over of yash chopra and his movies.kank is nothing but a revised version of silsila with a diffirent end .the end of silsila was according to that time of generel public's understanding and kank is according to the modern understanding.all i can say "naye cover mein purana sabun".

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Another Karan Johar (KJ) film hits the camp. And it is once again a star studded bonanza, with billion dollar Manhattan sets, mansions, penthouses and the works. KJ certainly has the art to spend tons of money on the sets, costumes, accessories, hair and make-up. The story is about love, and essentially that love is what sustains a marriage. Without love marriage is more of a burden than a relief. The story advocates that if one finds love in one's marriage then life is complete even if it incomplete in other areas. The ending was a strong point of the film. It was different, unpredicatable and had a ring of justice to it. Another strong point of the film is that the spouses are not portrayed as evil, no-good, malicious, or clearly worthy of dumping. the characters of Priti and Abhishek have many likable streaks. Especially Abhishek is turly a happy-go-lucky-in-love-with-his-wife-ready to-do-anything-for-her husband. Despite his sincerity of love his wife does not feel any love for him and I think there in lies the tragedy of the film. The falling in love with another man, the deciet, the infidelity, the passionate lovemaking all add to her displeasure.

Karan, you should not give SRK in lead role any more. Are you really happy from your heart in SRK\\\'s acting on that role. Abhishak Bachhan is very good.

I wish Hrithik takes away the award of 2006
by sheebashahid on Aug 22, 2006 05:28 AM

We need family oriendted director like Rakesh Roshan, in the full of obscenity & volgurity film industry!!

Atleast Krrish can watched the adults and children, without feeling embarrassed filthy scene.

I dont know the director like Yash chopra, karan johar, kunal kohli, Sanjay leela bansali etc never took Hrithek seriously enough to the leading star of their films. If they would have, then today Hrithek would have the king of bollywood. Infact, if given a chance, Hrithik, Abhishek & Saif ali khan can rule over the bollywood and can do better than SRK!!!!

I wish Hrithek again becomes the star of the millenium!!!
