I watched this movie about 1 year ago and i really loved how camera shot all the scenes and i liked the acting but the story was o.k. i will never forget this movie because it gives me spacil memories even thought i did not really think it was the best movie.
A. A Football Coach (Male) and a Primary School teacher (Female)
Q. How did they celebrate?
A. By making love...they got physical after a long period of togetherness.
Q. What was the big deal?
A. It was a forbidden fruit %u2013 but they still indulge in it. Actually both are married %u2026..to someone else respectively !
Q. Did they enjoy the togetherness?
A. Incredibly%u2026immensely it seems !
Q.How did it seem so?
A. The female and the male %u2013 both seemed to have %u2018come' together %u2013 ie. had the climax together %u2013 its something to do with %u2018love making' actually. Usually when couples are not in love , they %u2018come' at different times %u2013 thus lead an unhappy life. Refer movie : Sadma %u2013 the aged Tea Gardener's wife had become a %u2018desperate housewife' and was often seen seducing young Kamal Hassan because her husband could not %u2018satisfy' her on bed. As there was a scene where the aged haggard does the %u2018needful' and goes off to sleep but the young (vulgar and ugly looking though) wife lied awake with tears %u2018of dissatisfaction' in her eyes. Whereas the female in this movie had a single %u2018ecstasy' teardrop trickling down her eyes %u2013 an indication that both %u2018arrived' at the same time.
Q. She did not feel the %u2018ecstasy' with her tall, dark , young and good looking husband?!
A. Well, she was shown lying like a %u2018dead body' when her husband was on top of her %u2013 probably because she thought that she was not his %u2018only' bed partner%u2026she might have been suspicious of him since her Father-in-law - sexy Sam- was seen with a new and young %u2018call/pick-up %u2018 girl on a daily basis %u2026and its often understood %u2013 Like Father %u2013 Like son ! In one of the scenes %u2013 she even went off to sleep while her husband was %u2018working his way' up. He had started rather romantically by kissing her feet %u2013 but maybe by the time her reached her face %u2013 he was a bit too late %u2013 she had gone off to sleep !...unlike alert and fast football coach%u2026.since they are always pursuing the %u2018ball' and they are aiming at the goal %u2013 they are usually %u2018on time' !
Q. Extra marital affair?
A. Yes ! But with enough reason%u2026which is as follows :
The Story
A son suffers for his father's %u2018debauch-isly flirtatious' nature. Rani is married to Abhishek who is very %u2018childish' in nature and wants to have fun all the time %u2013 he is into Event Management and is always throwing parties %u2013 & since they are settled abroad %u2013 the ladies there seldom wear clothes %u2013 they just roam about in undergarments ! Maybe their %u2018men' like it that way and since %u2018women' are the ever subservient fools they follow the %u2018men' blindly in spite of all the torture and insult they get in return !
Rani does not quite like her hubby's %u2018 openly flirtatious' nature %u2013 but the fact that he would turn into a %u2018 dangerous flirt' in her absence or with age was probably constantly playing on her mind because her father-in-law %u2013 called Sexy Sam %u2013 used to %u2018do the needful' with available %u2018white skinned' young %u2018pick up / call girls' and was pretty bold about it %u2013 he openly declared his weakness for %u2018available call girls' and even invited them to Parties etc ! Another weak point that Rani had and knew for sure that Abhishek can %u2018kick her butt' anytime was the fact that she was %u2018barren' %u2013 could not beget him a baby !
All this constantly played on Rani's mind and she was basically unhappy with her husband. She did not like his parties and she looked condescendingly at the %u2018skimpy clad' hired Item girls.
Priety is a hard core Corporate lady who works for a Fashion magazine %u2013 and is drawing more salary than her %u2018loser' (according to her salary standards) husband %u2013 Shah Rukh who is just a small time football coach. They have a son %u2013 who is kind of %u2018meek' and fearful of his father - for Father wants him to be a football player and he (son) wants to be a violin player . There are scenes which show that a child is just a show piece for parents who are busy with their work. In one scene Priety calls his violin as guitar %u2013 showing that they really couldn't careless what the child is doing !Shah Rukh is often seen scolding his son %u2013 which is interpreted by his wife as %u2018he was taking his frustration out on his son'. She address herself as the Father of the child %u2013since she was the one who was getting the goodies for her son since the measly pay of a football coach could not fulfill a child's desires ! Result : Unhappy husband.
The common thing that shah rukh and Rani shared was : their dislike for %u2018wild parties' - they loved peace and tranquility and wanted a simple life. So both get drawn towards each other. They meet daily at the railway station and one fine day they decide to %u2018get physical'%u2026. The same day their spouses were dancing away to glory in a %u2018wild party'!
Anyways %u2013 they confess that they are in love %u2013 to their respective spouses %u2013 shah Rukh gets a slap from Priety and Abhishek breaks many vases etc. and both are thrown out of their respective house. But both of them lie to each other that they are %u2018living happily ever after' without each other.
3 years pass. Abhishek finds the absolutely correct match for himself this time %u2013 a foreign lady %u2013 Catherine %u2013 they reach a %u2018 you are okay %u2013 I am okay' agreement %u2013 both love wild parties and do not mind to see their respective spouses in someone else's arms and wearing %u2018lil' less than undergarments %u2018 to Parties etc.- since the Ladies abroad are known for their broad mindedness .
Priety's boss %u2013 a handsome Arjun Rampal had always been after Priety's love ..life ..body%u2026 I can't tell %u2013 since he had been pursuing her even when she was married. Maybe because she was a great Organizer/Leader so he thought of having her as %u2018keeps' for life %u2013 as with 100s %u2018Job Seeker-Seeking Sites' available on the net %u2013 good workers might just leave anytime they get a higher salary !Although Arjun is better looking than Shah rukh %u2013 taller and well established in this movie %u2013 he is Priety's Boss %u2013 but still Priety declines his proposal for she believed in following the rules and norms as set by the society%u2026also I believe football coaches are better bet on bed%u2026also she already had a child through him %u2013 thus had many formalities to take care of before calling off her marriage !
Another point that Bollywood wishes to push here is : the fact that %u2018skimpy clad' lasses , dancing away with other men %u2013 letting other men touch their body does not necessarily make a woman bad after all %u2013 she can still be loyal and faithful to her husband (and vice versa %u2013 dancing and touching other women does not make a man bad) %u2013 thus many Indians will now play with this thought that even they can dance and wear undergarments and roam about %u2013 since in this movie it is clearly indicated that the ones who expect %u2018loyalty, love,chastity, innocence and healthy discussions in marriage' and loath %u2018shamelessness' in any form%u2026are the ones who actually are the %u2018harami'(swines) for in this movie they are the ones who %u2018indulge' in the extra marital affair%u2026.whereas the husband and wife were dancing in a discotheque with several others%u2026.their respective spouses were %u2018fucking' around ! Thus the fact that in ZOOM TV where we can get to see the %u2018shamelessness & wastefulness ' in dress sense and other things that the Bolly bullies indulge in while attending parties%u2026is alright afterall%u2026.?! since the common people who do not attend such parties and rather %u2018puke' at it%u2026are the actual %u2018haramies' ?!
Anyways back to the movie :
So after 3 years of separation they meet again and get married !
Point to ponder upon : The way sex Sam was celebrating his wife's sad demise %u2013 it seemed he was rather happy being without her !Moreover in the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam %u2013 his wife was alive but still he was %u2018gyrating' with the Item Girls %u2013 right in front of her eyes !!Does it indicate that %u2018wife' is just a %u2018filler'? %u2013 to take care of the dynasty by giving birth to a son /daughter %u2013 preferably a son (in India ) %u2013 and that's all!
I had missed the first 15 minutes of the movie which my friend told me yesterday %u2013 Shah Rukh limped and lost a huge amount of money due to RANI !! He meets with an accident %u2013 while looking her way - and his career gets sealed ! So was it a revenge ? rest of the life Rani will have to spend with a limper drawing meager salary and somehow managing to make both ends meet%u2026whereas Abhishek had given her all the luxuries of life %u2013 riches etc. !..
In real life btw. both would have carried on with their extra marital affair and their %u2018dumb' spouses would never have come to know %u2013 even if they had %u2013 they would have come out with a %u2018 you are okay- I am Okay' situation where all four of them would have humped different people !
Why the hype about this movie? refer movie : Masoom %u2013 Naseerudin Shah goes on an Official tour %u2013 humps a Lady %u2013 come back and forgets all about it and starts living happily ever after with wife !!......whereas poor Karan had to separate Shah & Rani for 3 years %u2026as a punishment ?....for making the movie palatable for the Indian hypocrites ?! ....or am I to understand that the Teleserials are sowing the seeds of %u2018family ties' etc?...are we proceeding towards the era of %u2018good/ bad /ugly old family ties'?
Hail India ! I would have let Shah meet Rani in a weeks' time btw. !!
I saw hos muvi...really really too long and boring but something based with reality....I hated Rania dn Srk's charecter and Abhishek rocked and Preity was pretty and bold too...Didnt like amithabh Bachchan's Charecter much....But just one doubt..why does KJ have to make based on NRI's always or most of the time...cant it happen in india too..does he want other nationd so that it looks modern or to make it with shankar ehsaan loys tune and make it more romantic
what utter bullshit ..senseless melodrama .thank god i didnt waste money seeing it in the cinema hall. what was karan johar thinking ..people will eat any crap served to them. probably the worst movie i have seen (or tried to see ) in years
Having had the opportunity to watch the latest movie from Karan Johar, this movie has done well in the West. A lot of the people have said that it was their life that was portrayed on the screen. Married couples in the West, sometimes, don't have time for each other as they work very hard to earn a living which eventually leads to husband & wife seperating and some staying together because of children. There are a lot of characters similar to what KJ has portrayed in the movie. This is one movie, that will be turned into a classic, though not immediately.
Its pretty clear why we all r not ready to accept the film. if there's one word, its hypocrisy. we r too damn hypocritical and if that hypocrisy is shown back to us we object flat out. RDB showed us our hypocrisy in a more structured way. KANK is doing the same but with a slightly unstructured KJish style. its time for us to understand ourselves and the way we think. KJ succeeds at making us think and that as well is the film's success. People talk abt winners and losers. People complain that the film is showing a story of losers. Fine guys....have a good look at urself....what kind of a winner r u....or r u a winner at all? Maybe India needs all these "winners" to lift us out from the moral morass we r in. Come down to earth guys....this film points out only one thing....make a real relationship otherwise u will end up complaining....Cheating will take place until we recognise what we truly want....Dev and Maya opt out from their marriages to give their lives more purity....nothing else
