music of fanaa is very different from other films in recent times. and if it is the reason of its low rating then sorry to say this rating is not valid. music is very good. it may not be as per your expectation. but it is not that bad that you give it only two stars. poor.
According to me, Fanaa has a great music from J/L. all the songs are beautiful,unlike all other bulshit stuffs which we are hearing for last couple of year in Bollywood. J/L changed their style, but the maintained the melody, which is just awesome.and if they are little bit influenced by the style of AR, i would say thats good for them and as well as good for us. If u are influenced by a great person, the end product would be good also. Overall the music of Fanaa is very good to me,Rediff , should change their reporters, very poor standard of reporting indeed. Good job Jatin bhai and Lalit bhai...Appreciate ur hard work... Deb USA
but the production house will hammer is all over the place and make u listen... blip out sales figures to shout from roof tops that the music rocks, hire insipid VJ's to make it sound chick..but still cannot cover the nakedness of lack a single soulful or hummable tune...
none of the compositions are original and remind of hearing it earlier in some track or another..

Hey man do u think that the music of fanaa is disapponting.You are absolutely wrong as you are because the music is good and the songs are also good enough and even the movie will also be a great hit.Even now if u dont agree u seems to be jealous of music director or any other reason.
FANAAH is one of the best tracks a YashRaj movie ever had. It is among the top 3 music scores of Jatin-Lalit. It is unlike the score you typically expect from them. They have experimented a lot with the arrangement, and successfully so.
BY THE WAY, you are wrong in saying that Salim-Suleiman have arranged the songs. The songs are arranged by Jatin-Lalit's arrangers Richard & Kashi. Only mixed by S-S.
Also, sounds like you did not notice (or appreciate) the scale change introduced as JANA GANA MANA is played at the end of DES RANGILA. Guess what, that same song which you rated as avergae, and especially its climax which has the national anthem notes gives me goose bumps.
The music of Fanaa is nice, certainly not "disappointing". Sukanya, your star rating and review is flawed. You write about the music as "above average", but give it a 2 out of 5 rating! I don't get it.
In my opinion, 3 songs are awesome- Chanda Chamke, Chand Sifarish and Mere Haath Mein- in that order. Rest of the album is average.
