The most stupidest thing is to send Paheli hindi movie to the oscars when a movie like Black was done. I feel its only because SRK is in Paheli, Black would always be a best choice for oscars from India.I feel black would be a flimm which could have been sent as it shows that our bollywood actress and directors are no less than the hollywood people.
How can the judges select paheli....the magical crap???? THere is nothin in the movie...horrible choice and that too when it is the question of representing INDIA??? Oh God, definitely no chances of winning.......###
paheli was an ok flick but y was black left black was one of the best movie which ever released in india its very awefully discouraging to know that paheli was nominated n im sure that i will not even make it 2 oscars..... sai
Even the Indian audiances did not accept Paheli....then how can we expect that it will be nominated for Oscar awards. "B L A C K" would have been the right choise babe
I can't say if paheli was the right choice because I haven't seen any of the non-hindi films, but i think Paheli was not a bad choice because in my opinion more than black paheli is reflective of cinema and culture in india. I don't say this because i didn't like Back. i loved the film and thought it was a cinematic high for india, but the movie had no chance at an international scale. It was a story completely lifted from Helen Keller's Life and more than one movie incliuding the Miracle Worker have been made on the subject. hollywood literally specializes in stories on disabilities from I am Sam to Philadelphia. India needed somethiing different to be noticed. Paheli was a beautiful dreamy film, showcasing our indigenous folk storytelling talent. albeit cliched in its portrayal of India, it is a film worthy of global recognition.
NO. paheli is not at all a good choice for oscar. According to me BLACK is hundred times better than PAHELI and it is the one of the most beautiful cinema in bollywood.
I would say yes compared to other movies made in this time period. And no cause it still lacks some of the finer nuances required for an Oscar.
As far as Black is concerned Rani acted more like a retard than like a blind. The child actor was better than Rani. And Amitabh sometimes did go overboard with his acting. So finally we didnt have any real good nomination.
