i don't know how subash gai's TAAL comes in that list.And indian films means not the films in hindi only.It also includes Malayalam,Tamil and Bengali films.
Not one movie from the South! Mr.Ghai, you would do better to borrow some ideas from the South. Then, probably the quality of bollywood films will improve. Watch more films from the south. What audacity to include your own Taal on that list. Film making must be an art, please master it.
Unfortunately, this is not a list of India's best films. This is a list of Bollywood's best films. There are several Bengali, Tamil and Malayalam films which any discerning viewer would rate much higher than many of the movies in Subhash Ghai's list.
One thing that seems to be clear is that Mr.Ghai knows nothing beyond Hindi films. This list is not India's best films, it is just Bollywood's best films.
Also, including Taal is nothing but self-praise and it is not a good thing to do.
I am surprised Moghal e Azam is not in Ghai's best five films. He should have judged with an open and fair mind. Taal should not have been included in this list. It is not even his best film. According to me VIDHATA is his best film.
I could not help suppress a smile seeing the humble Mr. Ghai unable to resist the temptation of including at least one of his films in his list of top 10 India's 'finest' movies. No doubt 'Taal' is a brilliant movie, but to put it in this list of top 10, in line with Mother India and Pyasa is a bit too much, even by Mr. Ghai's standards! I can think of at least 50 other movies that deserve to go higher in this list, before Taal, ... Mughal-e-azam, Anarkali, Anand, Aankhiyon ke jharokhon se, Abhimaan, Devdas, QSQT, DDLJ, Laila Majnu.. being just a few of these.
Oh god.. why on earth would Taal appear in one of the finest films ? just bcoz it's made by Subhash Ghai himself ?? I would replace it with Aandhi made by Gulzar.
You should understand there are better films in other languages, than in hindi, and hindi cinema does'nt mean 'Indian Cinema' , You can call it 'Best Hindi Movies of Ghai's Choice', not 'Best Indian Movies of Ghai's Choice.
