True accidents happen to all of us, but we dont do anything about it. A hero rises from any occasion. This may be a story of many heros that rose from British tyranny. Only cowards see this kind of action as accidental. As Shakespear had written - Cowards die many deaths. But Mangel Pandey only once, but with style of a brave. Movie is an inspiration, but like other post noted we,Indians always criticise our real heros. But love fictional heros depicted in movies - Shame.
What does it mean, this accidental hero?a random act of heroism? as opposed to someone who has displayed a consistent pattern of heroic action?Does it matter.
Is this debate about the conflict we have, in our expectation of a hero's character and motives? How's being under the influence of bhang different from being 'in the zone' before charging at the enemy.
Do our heros necessarily have to be sane and just?Specially when it involves killing and violence? What intrests me,in the absence any records of the opinion and veiws of mangal, are the events that transpired. Interpretaion is contextual.
Sir, I did happen to see the movie only yesterday. From the beginning i knew something was missing and towards the end i found that it was not at all inspirational and value for money. At the end i was sitting and thinking where all the money had gone for making this movie.Overall it was very much dissapointing.
Please dear, research more before you pen down your views. If you are an objective person who wanted to really write truth then why did you only go those British Archieves?Any layman can also understand that those records would certainly be British conniving. You could've gone to Barrackpore made reasearch, tried to trace his origins. You could've also seen other places in the area where the rebellion was sparked off,but no you are the creed, carrying the British Aura with aplomb.Britshers have gone but have left a Malignancy in form of you.Mangal Pandey was intoxicated during that incident remains a doubt, but one thing is sure you still remain intoxicated of those stupid slavery days(British Raj) where you slaved for your comforts at the expense of our brothers & countrymen & of course Nationalism.Thats why you could never understand nationalism.Gurudev, Swamiji & Maharishi, tried hard to intill Indian spirit in you people, but grubs like you never learn.
Hello sir, I congratulate you for the sucess of mangal pandey . And best wishes as you became the father of a two year child "JAAN" . Your film has given us many information about our past and the revolution of 1875. I thank you for having tried such a bold and energetic topic . Best of luck for your forth coming film with kajol, and second movie "RANG DE BASANTI".
probably the author of the book should get into the act of soul-searching as it's nothing but sick to say that Mangal Pandey was an accidental hero. If any other person would have been in Mangal Pandeys position he wouldn't have even thought of doing such a thing. So that's what a hero does, what others can't even dare to.
Amir Acting was good no doubt ...but he shud avoid masala movie..Mangal pandey was masala moviw and nothibng else ..nothing Intellectual in the movie...no dialogs..nothing ..a complete masala movie..
