i think it will be not be a big hit. its going to make profits for everyone for sure but is not going to break any records as far as box office is concerned. however, it has the potential to reach oscars as another prestigious project from india. how thye west is going to take the criticism of england and music of india remains to be seen:)
well the promos of the much awaited film mangal pandey looks ok but i feel the movie vil be let down as far as box office result is concerned as it looks a distorted vision of the facts and looks a more glamaourized version which may not go well vth traditional hindi audiences AAKASH

I strongly feel that making such a film is a noble effort of social service as awereness needs to generated among people ,to generate the feeling of love for our great country as well as the real heros- The Freedom Fighters of our Nation.

Yes...I candidly think it will be a hit as its got Aamir in it! Well, his movies are good as his track record goes. He chooses movies with a lot of thought and plus they convey a social message.
I prefer films like Mangal Pandey to all the skin flicks and drab comedy (Kya Kool Hai HUm).
Hopefully the audience should not let down Ketan Mehta and Aamir Khan. I pray that the film will revolutionize Indian cinema and make period films more acceptable.
Well, no denying that the film has generated a tremendous hype. But taking into consideration the plight of historical films in India, its chances of becoming a huge hit are genuinely low. Take the brilliant looking ASOKA or the superbly detailed and equally well made LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH, the films on historical characters have failed. THE RISING features Aamir Khan after 4 long years and only his presence will guarantee a massive opening. So its not the first weekend that will give a true picture, it will be the scene at the box office tuesday onwards that will decide tha fate of Ketan Mehta's MANGAL PANDEY. The music, well, it is good... but definitely not upto the mark. I personally feel the film wont work, rest, time will decide and i pray it becomes a huge hit because all big money its riding on its shoulders.
