i dont think kamal as a great comedian-he is trying
by madhu on May 06, 2005 09:57 PM

the review comments goundamani and senthil as slapstick.but says mumbai express has great dialogues.
the author should know that goundamani is known for his dialogues and timing where he is great.which kamal cannot match.which u can see in singaravelan, kamal struggles to cope with goundamani.
and even kamal is doing stereotypic comedy from Michael, Madan, Kama Raj, Pammal K Sambandham, Tenali and Pushpak which continues in mumbai express.
tamil people find lot of comedy actors hilarious
like vadivel,vivek,surulirajan,vk ramasamy,etc.,not
as the author says only kamal.
kamal cannot do the simple and earthly comedy like gondamani,vadivel.,.
in mumbaiex pasupathy doesnot know what to do,he is at sea.the timing between the characters like other successful kamal films.the sound of the film is bit odd.even digital filming is inferior when the characters in the film moves faster pixelation occurs.and even the color is very odd.

shoba and kaal bite the dust

it is indeed tragic that in rediff one reviewer praises one film and another treats it like dirt.(chandramukhi is applauded by Nadar and Warrier tears it apart!)anyhow Ms.Warriersloyalty to kamal is conspicuosly visible in the review and also her inexperienc eto gauge a successful film. MumX is a wahout in TN right from the day one. if warrier doesnt know that, it is high time rediff has a though check on their reviewers acumen of the trade and knowledge of the craft. mumex is a mediocre waste of digital tapes and positive films and in the case of some unfortunate viewers, valuable time. tyhe pot bellied actor can very much turn to soaps on satellite channels instead of torturing filmgoers. any one who undergoes the torture of Mumx will swear by it. Ms. warrier must be either blind like raja parvai kamal or deaf like mumxpress kamal. let her too retire.

Well said. Did anyone from rediff interview her before appointing. Totally biased review. She should understand to do her job of reviewing the movie given to her rather than talking about another one.
Thumbs down to Rediff.

Mr. Ravi seems to have a very biased and prejudiced opinion against Mumbai Express. I may like to remind him here that Ms. Warrier has just reviewed the film, the way she felt it to be. You cannot impose your decisions and opinions on anybody, Mr. Ravi. I personally felt the film is not a very big hit and hyped but not a total washout too. Mr. Ravi should not choose rediff as a forum or platform to express his anguish on Ms. Warrier. I have been regularly following up her reviews and I found her to be a fair and justified writer. TO ERR IS HUMAN, Mr. Ravi. May be this time she erred in reviewing Mumbai Express. That doesn't mean you need to equate her with Kamal of Mumbai Express or Kamal of other film that you mentioned. I am in agreement with you that its HIGH TIME, Mr. Kamal Hassan took off to behind the camera and concentrated on being a good technician, which he is. Now he should retire from coming as HERO in films. Only then will the people keep his love and respect alive. Else he may be ruthlessly thrown out by the same people, who have, till now, respected and admired him. Mr. Kamal is increasing becoming a 'Megalomaniac'. Mr. Ravi coool down. Express ur views softly.Tk cre

cut above the edge ??
by veni on Apr 26, 2005 06:44 PM

sorry, xpress is not a cut above the edge when compared to chandramuki, which first of all had some thing called story, which is missing in xpress, definite screen play, serious acting and whole some entartainer without the opening bar girls dance will make chandramuki a run away hit!
xpress is better in stunts and some rib acheing comedy but sorry not a wholesome entertainer like chandramuki which is a neat subject with Rajini just playing the character Saravanan and not a larger than life image buit ups !

on the other side
by gr.siva on Apr 19, 2005 03:17 PM

it seems the review has forgotton to mention the other side of the movie.. the first half and the scenes of unnecessary sentiments between kamal and manisha in the second half drag a lot..the movie ends abruptly in the climax.. the screenplay is much slower than it should be and requires trimming at many parts. digital format has its own minius points which is evident in some of the scenes in the first half..
despite all these, mumbai express does it and serve its purpose..

Tenali a classic?
by Raghu on Apr 18, 2005 01:24 AM

Oh well, first time somebody labels Kamalahasan's Tenali as a classic! What a waste of money that movie was...with ridiculous situations and a sick sense of humor.
