Another from Hollywood

It surprises me how blatantly people keep copying Hollywood flicks. This story line is similar to "The Gift" starring Cate Blanchett, Keanu Reeves, Greg Kinnear, Katie Holmes and others.

The hollywood one would be close to real life, we add some more spices as we are Indians and some steaming dance numbers and make it our own version.

Still we deny that it's a poorer reproduction of the English version. Hope day comes where we see movies that are close to reality.

Well, friend you are very keen on watching original and realistic movies, watch Trikaal, Uski Roti, these movies are specially meant for people like you.

Otherwise go for a Yash Chopra movie, which always is a beaten to the boosh story, but everyone will call it original and eventually people like you will make it superhit. Finally last nail in the coffin would be award functions, where they will sweep all the awards, Sp. Shahrukh khan, its like he has won 5-6 awards for same monotonous acting.

Regarding Rakht, despite of being inspired by the Gift, movie is gripping, thanks to narration, acting and music.well a film like rakht shows that now bollywood is actually experimenting with different kind os films, though its all togather a different srory that movie is doing extremely bad in theatres, as there were hardly 50 people in entire cinema hall yesterday. Its a chiller/thriller but surely better than recent thrillers like FIDA.

But all said and done, these different genere/type of films cannot become Mega Hits/SuperHits, as that is some thing patented by Yash Chopra/Karan Jahar type of producers.

Rakht is an Avarage-Good film
by Maxew on Sep 03, 2004 08:01 PM

Rakht is OK, its an Avarage-Good film, the direction is pretty good, Mahesh Manjerakar's direction is very good, the screenplay is excellent and the Background Score is Amazing, however it looks like it is highly inspired by Sam Raimi's English Movie, still the credit has to go the director. As for as the performance, the Best Performance in the movie is given By Surprise...Surprise DINO MOREA, his Performance is Excellent as the Abusive Husband, Bipasha Basu has given a Wonderful Performance, she has the Author backed role in it, Sanjay Dutt has given a very Restrained Performance, but he does with aplomb, Then Suniel Shetty has given a good Performance but i dont no why he agreed to do this Miniscule role, this role is not to his Superstar Status, he evn did a very Inconsequential role in MAIN HOON NAA, which had him Playing the Villan, A indian Terrorist(Ridiculous!!!!!), i dont know why is he taking up such bakwaas and Faltu roles, It is the Faltu role of Suniel Shetty after MAIN HOON NAA, Him being a Star should not do these Bakwaas and Inconsequential roles,

Sounds like ''The Gift'' to me.
by Mayur Kirtani on Sep 03, 2004 07:46 PM

This movie looks like an Indian Version of "The Gift" starring Cate Blancheet and "Neo" Reeves. It was a good movie to watch.

Lets see if this one is AS good as that.
