Lakshya is a good movie
by Rishi on Jul 09, 2004 01:40 AM

After reading all the review comments , I must say ,please be on your own judgement while watching the movie & don't be overwhelmed by the critics.Lakshya is better than LOC or Border. It has got some good storyline , excellent camerawork ,decent direction and not so good songs.Hrithik did a good job , so did others.RockClimbing scene reminds unforgetable "Cliffhanger"..or remember TomCruise in Mi2?Hrithik's expression to Zinta pointing to mountain-peak & telling her his Lakshya deserve credit. Some comments:
1. yes , second lieutenant post was lifted before 1999-2000. So Anoop was wrong on this point.
2. I don't remember anybody told in the movie that only one Bofors gun is used for shelling. Ofcourse only one was shown in the movie , but that doesn't prove there is only one Bofors gun!!!!
3.What I heard , the war related story line is taken from what actually happened , so "....reinforcement of pakistani soldiers..." never actually happened , director was right on that point.
4.For your information , lowlevel decisions are solely taken by CO of Regiment at war-front,and "top brass" may know the high-level plans but may not know details. So I think Anoop may reconsider his point.

Anoop this not at all fair.......!
by Sara Batool on Jun 21, 2004 11:51 PM

This is really bad and u r no one to impose ur comments on ppl about the film so soon....this is all rubish !i m the greatest fan of farhan akhtar and wont let u say anything bad about him...making a movie in such a tough terrain is simply incredible..i m sure it is easy to pass comments but really hard to do something like this urself...
farhan is my ideal and i worship him...he'z so different just like his movie and i m sure it is the best movie ever as it deals with war as well as a very significant youth problem...which is an entirely different theme...no matter wat u say...it dusent matter...b'coz i know that my farhan is just the best! and dont u dare write such articles again!

A good movie - but not a great one
by Vani on Jun 21, 2004 08:10 PM

Anoop,

You are right - It was a good movie for exactly the reasons you mentioned - The rest of the movie is like watching Fauji, or LOC or BORDER.

The farhan akhtar touch that we saw in DCH was missing in this movie -- and Gosh the hair styles - Could not stand them.

Review : Lakshya

I totally disagree with Mr Anoop Saxena(June 19,2004).
I beleive Mr saxena is trying to force his perception over others. The so called connoseur says that "its not differently different". Mr Saxena, you must have had a ball watching 'Border' when apna Shetty bhai picks up the mine and bangs into the tank...yes that is "differently different".

Need i say more?...i hope the point is clear.

Tiger was Uninformed and too old
by sandeep on Jun 21, 2004 06:08 PM

Our tiger in the movies Amitabh Bachchan was too old and looked lethargic. Looked like he was on medication. Also, as the leader of the operation his knowlege/reasoning was poorer than the cook (Om Puri) when the cook points out that Amitabh may be wrong as the kind of gun enemy has takes less than 10 secs to load.

Amitabh look totally out of place in teh movie. Also OM puri and Bomman Irani (hritik's father) were wasted. As far as preity zinta's character , lets not even go there.

Pathetic Movie. I laughed at it all teh time.

LOC was more realistic and genuine
by Murali Krishna on Jun 21, 2004 05:52 PM

I think Anoop has said it right. The concept was good but they could not build it well, end of the movie you feel as if it could have been better It is an OK movie not a great one as we all were expecting it to be. To be honest I liked LOC more than the second half of Lakshya, I mean the war portion of the movie.
Lakshya still works for the great performances..one thing I completely disagree is the potrayal of Hrithik in the first half the characterlooked more like a retarded guy than a guy who is aimless in life..that for me is a big miss.
