Hats off to you, Farhan

Farhan is really delivering some great stuff. Imagine a war story that is about human beings, imagine a war against Pakistan without the sabre-rattling and melodrama, imagine the lead characters actually not hamming or hawing or going over the top or not being themselves. Imagine a family movie without the great 5000-year old family traditions being invoked at the drop of a hat or a Utopian and mythical joint family going ga-ga with their love and emotions (and of course bling-bling and Ramukakas).

Keep it up, buddy. We badly need some respectable movie makers.

Regards

B U Kulkarni

Suberb Movie with its roots in the right place
by Amit Ashara on Jun 19, 2004 04:47 PM

I come from an Army background and the way Farhan has depicted the lives of the soldiers braving the odds, up in the Himalayas defending the nation irrespective of their faith truely shows the genuine nature of this most honest and selfless profession.

Farhan vs Spielberg !!!!
by SURYA on Jun 19, 2004 01:59 PM  | Hide replies

"Farhan is slowly emerging as the Steven Spielberg of India. Even Quentin Tarantino has some consistent themes. But Akhtar is a man for all seasons"

Looks like the writer has been well paid. If Farhan was compared to some local bollywood director it will make sense...but Steven Spielberg !!!! And Quentin Tarantino !!! the film has just been released and like all hyped Hindi movies may not even survive a week..no guesses media has already made it a hit....

HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOVIE, DUDE?

If you haven't, just shut up. You have not got a clue of what the writer is writing about and this is no place to write of your colour biases.

After a long-long time, I have seen a F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C hindi movie. A day later and I am still grinning, feeling proud of the guys who made it happen. It is without any doubt, in my mind, a path-breaking movie. A trendsetter. In every department of film making, it is a critic's delight. A hindi movie critic's.

All I can now say is, WAH! FARHAN, HRITHIK & CO WAH! Keep it up guys!! Way to go boys!!!

Very well done Farhan !

A very good effort by Farhan and Hrithik. When Hrithik came out as a college dude, I was taken a little aback, but then he was so believable as a directionless bloke, I just clapped when he transformed into this serious officer.

And of course story is very well told, could have cut some of the songs, but hey if it is required for the crowds, keep it. This film should do well, because it deserves to.

Very true

Absolutely.

It is amazing to see the striking difference between DCH and Lakshya. It only proves tremendous skill to handle two genres.

The latter has been made with such true-to-life flavor,(like the former)but the victory lies in the difficulty level to make something like Lakshya. It is easy to resort to melodrama in such films, but it is so refreshing to see the way every single character enacts on screen so naturally.

Well done,F.Akhtar,indeed!
