biased critique!!
by prabhu on Jun 20, 2004 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

y is the critic so biased in favor of akhtar!!..
THe movie was a big letdown...high on typical indian movie kitsch...hero singl handedly going all the way to unfurl the flag...intermittent lectures on bravery frm AB & others....too pedantic...
first half rocked....the director lost track completely in the 2nd half...and god knwos how much favors U r getting by consistently posting positive reviews...on a scale of 10, lakshya gets a 6-7 frm me..

Lakshya is indeed a very well made movie. Farhan has brought a freshness in the art of movie direciton. Your criticism cant change this fact. Your illogical criticism suggests either you detest change or an ardent follower of the Johar/Chopra school of thought. Grow Up man and appreciate good stuff when it comes along.

Lakshya has raised the bar on all future directors
by Srini Iyer on Jun 20, 2004 10:29 AM

Lakshya has done one thing for sure. It has raised bar on quality of Hindi film many notches above of what we have seen so far. And Farhan Akhtar has probably surpassed the likes of Mani Rathnam and Ashutosh Gowarikar with this film.

A clean, realistic movie with a message.

Hrithik like Koi Mil Gaya, once again plays the twin personality acts with equal aplomb, metamorphosing to a focussed person from a young man who is clueless about the direction of his life. His facial expressions and the entire body language convey his rudderless life and how they undergo a sea change, when he finds the goal of his life. With "Main Aisa Kyoon Hoon" he once again surpasses his dancing skills.

Dialogues shorn of any jingoism, breathtaking Rock climibing scenes, and intense background score by Shankar Ehsaan Loy that raise the level of every action. Music is contextual without seeming like a time a filler.

Emotional scene between father (Boman Irani) and the son (Hrithik), taken with sensitivity, leaves your eyes moist while making us feel uplifted. Music that seemed to lack the punch earlier, seem to explode in the movie.

Lakshya is a class act!!

Lakshya
by R. N. Bose on Jun 20, 2004 09:34 AM

The film was wonderfully conceived and executed. Congrats to the director. I am sure it is going to be a box office hit as well.

I almost wished that - when the Indian flag was raised atop the montain peak - I'd get to hear the national anthem. It almost looked like that it would have been a natural.

The best thing was when the flag was raised, a section of the audience burst out clapping. It was spontenoeus!
The film has indeed reached its "lakshya".
Incidentally, could it be granted 'entertainment tax free' status, I wonder?

Bravo!!!

Hats off to Farhan! Amazing direction. The college scenes were utterly believable (although DCH proved he was already good with this genre), but the war scenes blew me away! The grit and passion of the soldiers came through so effectively and inspiringly! Hrithik's intensity was quite a pleasent surprise, didnt think he had it in him, but hes done a great job. Preity was pretty good and Amitabh and Boman did very well in their little parts! But the real winner should be the armed forces, the bravery of the soldiers, the stark terrifying reality of war and commendable sense of comraderie and sacrifice displayed in the movie are on the mark, and make us proud of our armed forces!!
