I have been listening to Mohd.Rafi since I was 9-10 years old and am now 53. There are no words to describe Mohd. Rafi. He is indescribable. His talent was immeasurable. There is no question a singer of his magnitude would ever be born, unless Mohd.Rafi himself is reborn. I really wish when he is reborn, The Almight may also grant me another human life, so that I can listen to him again. And also should be reborn with him composers like Naushad, Madan Mohan. I simply worship him. He has given me happiness, tears, sorrow with his songs. About four years back, I dreamt of Rafi. The next day, I prayed to God to give me opportunity to visit Bombay (I lived in Delhi), so that I can visit Rafiji's Mazar. He game me after a few months. My driver asked me where do you want me to take you for sight-seeing. I said, I want to go to so and so, Bandra Road. I had Rafiji's address. He took me and cannot describe my ecstasy. I stayed in front of his memorial which is on the ground floor of his old mansion, which his family has kept intact (many thanks to them). I felt like I visited my pilgrimage. I am sure there are lakhs of people like who worship Rafi Sahib.
Perhaps the best ever by Rafi, Tum Mujhe Yun is a classic. Also reminiscent of the fact that the musical great has passed on inspiring generations of music lovers.
Well said Abbas. I respect both of them, you said the truth about that song. Similarly, I remember another song which was offered to Kishore but he said "No, no Manna Dey and only Manna Dey could sing this song", later Manna Dey proved Kishore's faith on him. The song is: "Laga Chunari mein daag", I like all of them. Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Ghulam Ali, Hemant Kumar etc. I cherish Rafi ji on this day as the topic is dedicated to him. I pray for the peace of his soul
