by himanshu on Aug 17, 2004 05:37 PM

yesterday i saw pitamagan with my tamil friend. I think this time national award has been given to a right person.
vikram acting was really very good and he diserves the award.

why expect hrithik to win national award?
by bombay boy on Aug 17, 2004 04:19 PM

since the gutka company (filmfare) awarded hrithik with best actor, his father, uncle and everyone right here might have expected the national award too, be given to him. but they refused to recognise a fact that national awards, not like filmfare, are awarded to best performance irrespective of its box office collection. vikram definitely deserve the award. let Mr.film maker watch the film first.
CONGRATS VIKRAM!!!

Reg the article : ''Why hrithik did not win...''
by Rahul on Aug 17, 2004 04:09 PM

Hi !!
the title of the article creates an interest but the writer himself was unaware why hrithik lost. mr writer, instead of discussing the topic, you are busy telling us what some other director thinks & you have just a single line about the title....
do something about it

it's a big irony
by gr.siva on Aug 17, 2004 03:48 PM

doesn't the fimmaker know how stupid it would be to make a public statement on a star without seeing his movie? vikram definitely deserve the award for his mind boggling performance in pithamagan.
i too agree with ghosh, in virumaandi, a film which was declared best asian film by an european jury at Korea last month, not getting recognised at national level!!!!! what a irony!!!! lol.

north (vs) south debate
by nitin aggarwal on Aug 17, 2004 03:25 PM  | Hide replies

Well, its not who won the national award, but its from where he has won it.At the face of it,the whole South Indians would support Vikram as if he is their representative ,their own DNA and brother . Similarly, the whole of North Indians would support Hrithik as if he is their son and would die for him.

What I want to convey is before you pass any judgement, get out of that divide first and be impartial . After all whether North or South ,they are Indians and you feel like one before categorizing yourself. And on top of that irrespective of this, they are actors. So judge them purely for their performance .

My vote goes to Hrithik as he delivered the best performance of the two. As for Vikram,he needs to work hard to truly deserve it.

Nitin Aggarwal.

RE:north (vs) south debate
by praveen on Aug 17, 2004 11:09 PM
well,
you couldn't make a fair judgement after all right? actually seen the movie pithamagan dude? i dont think this is a north south divide. even in bollywood manoj bajpai gave far more noteworthy performace than hrithik.
and, you are actually forgetting that hrithik wasnt even in the final round of reckoning. the votes were divided equally between nedumudi venu and vikram. finally the chair vote decided the issue.
so, a jury with people from around the coutry (not just south indians) gave the award.
i think hrithik is the one who has to work harder... vikram reached this position by being a consistent hit provider for last 3 years. you just have to read through the posts to know of the versatile roles he has done during this period. what has hr done during this time? how many hits did he deliver?
forget hits, how many good films did he do? let him produce good films/hits in a consistent manner as vikram has done for past 3 or 4 years and then lets see..
go see sethu also and then talk about putting in hard work to poor vikram...

Just one question
by Krish on Aug 18, 2004 01:17 AM
You safely evaded the question. Did you watch "Pithamagan"?
If the answer is yes and you still think Hirthik should get, then it is your opinion and I have nothing to say about it.

But if you have'nt, then with due respect, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS same as that film director/producer.

I would blame this author not the producer/director.

I prefered Vikram (yes. I watched KMG too and thought Hirthik did a decent job). May be it is influcened by his past performances like Sethu, Kaasi etc.

Vikram vrs Hrithik
by arthi on Aug 17, 2004 03:18 PM

I think both were great..but Vikram surely did just that wee bit better. Hrithik was good..and maybe deserved more than Manoj Bajpai.
I dont like this bengali fraternity talking about them being different and clannish..doesnt make them great or majorly different in any way..!

gosh!
by raj on Aug 17, 2004 02:47 PM

Yes Hritik is brilliant in KMG but not every
performance gets an award. It is quite common to
see wonderful performances from south igonored
from time to time.
(Except for hritik, Koi Mil Gaya is a pure crap..miles
away from ET).

Please save national awards from turning into
popular awards.

EXCUSE ME!!!!!
by saji on Aug 17, 2004 02:42 PM

Comparing Vikram's performance in Pithamagan to that of Hrithik in KMG is akin to that of comparing Mithun Chakraborthy to Marlon Brando!

It's blasphemy.A sincere request to all these filmmakers to watch Pithamagan and then pass on their comments. If they are in fact Good filmmakers, they would understand the difference.

It's sad that the narrow minded attitude of bollywood showing it's ugly face here. But at the same time it's heartening to know that the National Awards give preference to Performance rather than Mass Preference!!!!

As for Hrithik.....Good Work...But long way to go yet!!!!

may be...
by Srini on Aug 17, 2004 01:57 PM

People would view the actor's performance in very professional way for a film award.. May be Hrithik did some minute errors that werent visible to our eyes.. or may be manoj bajpai outperformed...
Vikram and Hrithik had all the opportunity in the world to perform... the story line was helping them... but maybe manoj bajpai didnt have any extra help from story but still he made his mark...
may be!
