Armaan

I have just watched this film. All in all I would say I found it just a little disappointing, It lacked flow, and at times was jarringly disjointed. It takes nearly an hour before it becomes interesting.Prity Zinta had me grinding my teeth with irritation..if that was the purpose of her role it was brilliantly executed!

The part of the film I don't understand, is what happened to the little boy run over by the truck? Surely he could have been a bigger part of the story-line.

Anil and Prity marry (he wants funds for the hospital)
Anil wants to adopt newly orphaned boy.
Prity hates the idea.
Anil has to choose between the boy and the funds.....(history repeating itself).....
Would have made a more gripping story, given more substance to the whole film.

I do, however, agree with what others have said, in that it was a decent film, albeit a little untidly put together.

a good directorial debut
by jayasree on Jan 11, 2004 11:49 AM

its a pretty good movie. priety did an excellent job.we very rarely get to see movies of this kind. All the charecters were meticulously charecterised and justified. its different from the routine stuff that we get from bollywood and thus refreshing. The director should have worked on the lighting though. It seemed prettymuch dark throughout the movie.

a movie with a variety

the review was disappointing.the film is a lot different from srk's raj-anjali type of movies ,a simple story expressed wonderfully by an excellent team of artists.it is a pity that the film failed to click, maybe because of the misdirections by the film critics.

Not disappointing at all
by Wiz on Jun 28, 2003 09:07 PM

Well, I truly share the anguish of my fellow mates for the bad review written---I dunno if the reviewers are paid by the directors---or they just have burnt taste buds. Armaan--I wouldn't say is a great movie but surely a good movie....much better than Bhooth in terms of "logic" and the message conveyed. I am big -bigB fan but didn't like him in his come back movies at all---this movie he actually underplays his role---no big dialogues, no "too big for his boots" kind of scenes. I would say very Hriskesh mukherjeeish movie and good to watch with the family---people if you can stand HAHK, and all the damn 4-5-6 worded movies..this is surely much better--atleast it doesn't deal with concocting marriage song and dance sequences. Finally I just hope this message gets posted----I have been writing n- reviews and rediff has been disappointing like hell

I think the reviewer is very harsh and does not understand cinema. This is one of the decent and polish movie of 2003.

Armaan Was Okay

#1 - Preity Zinta always gives fabulous performances and was the only reason the film was not boring. Kya Kehna was a beautiful film that dealth with an issue overlooked by most.

#2 - A lot of the film was boring. Amitabh Bachan's role was one that has been seen in only a hundred films. The whole scene where he dies was dramatised to death. Anil Kapoor looks a little old but he is still handsome. Gracy Singh was not beautiful and paled in comparison to Preity. Her character was also boring, she had nothing much to do. I forwaded most of the film because of all the doctor parts. If the story had been tightened up (and a few twists added) it would have been a lovely film.

Please give up your role Gumasteji -- you can't review a good film
by Avinash Taware on Jun 19, 2003 09:47 AM

Armaan was refreshing in every sense. It was nice to watch Anil Kapoor and Gracy Singh act and their chemistry was amazing. Amitabh had his moments. Preity did overact at times, but overall was ok. I think a very to the point screenplay, good implied scenes made the movie stand out. Looking at the crap like KKPH and Dil ka Rishta (An Ash family torture), this movie is miles ahead. Honey irani, please continue .. we want more movies like this. Crapy movies with college subjects stolen from Hollywood need to go ! can't bear to see some utopian hindi world ...big mansions, costumes and Devdas kind of crap ! enough ... I felt relieved to see this movie.. Kudos !!! Gracy Singh is very promising.. wish her the best. As for gumasteji, please clear up your review framework !!!
