WHAT A JOKE!!!!
by music lover on Jun 03, 2003 02:25 PM

oh....that was a hilarious article. Look at the no. of contradictions in it - anu malik and originality, anu malik and world class music! The worst thing is....he feels ppl dont approach him because he wears modern outfits. oh boy, why is there an indirect reference to ar rahman?? 1st, learn to compose music originally! Empty vessels make noise!

The copycat himself talks about originality!
by Sreesa Akella on Jun 03, 2003 02:02 PM

When you mention Akele Hum Akele Tum I thought I should mention that one of the songs in it

"Aya hun yaro dil apna lekar" has the tunes of

Deep purple in it from their song

"Child in time"

If this is being original then what is piracy pray someone explain to me.

And I am sure this one is just the tip of the iceberg.

No one is a Saint

According to my finding..there is a no music director...who can say that he hasn't stolen a tune ever...may it be Shankar Jaikishen's "deko ab to dil ko nahin hain khabar" or jeena yahan marna yahan...or R.D Burman's "jeevan ke din choote sahi " or "chura liya hain" ...etc the list is infinity...starting from S.D to salil Chowdhury to Rabindranath Tagore...all of them had some point of time ..stolen music....
Thus I feel that if one wants to critisize...Anu Mallik about the quality of Music he creats ..do it on that cause it is a very personal choice but not for lifting tunes..
Though no one can deny the fact ...he is the most versatile music director India has ever produced...he has under his belts music like...Judwa, haseena man Jayegi to Refugee, Border..like AKS to Sir, Fiza.
All Big director are goning to him...to get their music done....he can't be "nothing"

Hi,
I read your message in rediff.I was amazed to know that you have exactly the same thoughts as I do.Thanx for writing in and let the people know that its not all about lifting tunes but to give quality music.I do agree with you that Anu Malik is the jewel in the crown of Indian Music Industry.Every third movie is under his belt.He has proved his work.No matter what the people say about him, he is simply the one amongst the best in the bollywood.

Being original in music ... (copying)
by Subra on Jun 03, 2003 12:51 PM  | Hide replies

The music these days is hardly hear-able .. it's pathetic.

Neither the music directors .. and for that matter even the singers (male) are abhorable. Everyone sings with a particular nasal sound and sort of hisses which are not good to the ear that get to your nerves. You listen this music once or at the most twice and then you do not want to listen it any more.

Look how people listen the songs of yester-years - how lilting they are and the lyrics, the music, the singers - all match. That is why we like the older songs.

He does not have the right to talk of being original...
