its strange some people....
by indrajit on Dec 30, 2003 05:00 PM

Its really strange some viewers love movies of karan johar and SRK categories ,which ironically is far irrelevant
when compare to LOC and give the verdict of worst movie made etc . This has been an honest effort
from entire crew of Loc to depict the reality of Soldiers who put down their lives for us.
Some performances r simply mind blowing,i.e of Ajay devgun,Abhishek bachan and Manoj Bajpei.

LoC was the worst movie of the century. the director has failed to capture the emotions of war and the movie seems to have be some unimaginative documentry shot by the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defence.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Before watching the movie I thought that the battle area would be full of snow, but there is not any single snow area and Datta didn't forget the conception of film 'Border' becouse in 'Border' the weeping of heroenes was looking better but all time that dosn't look better, and Sanjay Datt never look like a soldier becouse standing style is not like a soldier and here the activities of pakistani soldier has not neen shown.

and lastly the stepwise picturisation of each area covered by army has been puzzled the viewers in Cinema hall and every viewer dosn't know english so that they didn't understand what is happening stepwise in kargil.

Great efforts put in by Dutts and all the stars
by Aks on Dec 30, 2003 12:00 PM

This is the movie every indian must see at least once. I think the review written by rediff is appropriate. If our yong generation is running behind the reel cinema and is not interested in real cinema then we are again running towards the slave policy as was in the reign of English men. We should appreciate the efforts of producer, director Mr. Dutta and all the stars who belong to this movie because without looking at the fate of this kind of movie, they tried very hard and even if it doesn't hit the bull's eye, it will always be remembered in every true Indian's mind. At last, I would like to say, Great effort. Salute to real heroes and reel heroes.

A MATTER OF SHAME
by vikram on Dec 30, 2003 12:13 AM  | Hide replies

people,
i havent even seen the movie yet but i am shocked by the reviews and negative reactions of people. it takes guts, courage and conviction to make a movie which is a tribute to the armed forces. its a matter of COMPLETE SHAME and TOTAL DISRESPECT to criticize such efforts.
these reviewers who have pulled the movie down come across as selfish, dogmated and completely non patriotic indians. while i do not advocate war as answer to issues between the 2 hostile neighbours, can someperson from the media please stand up and LAUD Mr Dutta for if nothing else making a genuine attempt to pass a tribute to the people who safegaurd our borders. as the son of an ex army Lt. Col of the indian army (who lost leg movement owing to bullet injuries in the china war) it completely disheartens when instead of lauding this brave director's attempt, people are pulling him down.
isint it time someone patted him on the back and thanked him for his valiant attempt vis a vis movie makers who only seek to entertain and not make any true attempt to convey real issues (point in case gadar, the hero, kabhi khushi kabhi gham etc)
see the movie for the sake of unseen soldiers on the borders

Poor Script and very poor execution
by Murali on Dec 29, 2003 10:47 PM  | Hide replies

I just realised how "Too Many crooks can spoil a broth", They made a real mockery with too many star cast and unable to use a single one to his max potential. I did go nuts when I observed sanjay kapoor and sanjay dutt unable to control laugh while actually delivering a serious dialogue. Overacting by Abishek and useless acting by raj bappar were the highlight of this tragedy. Whose idea was that to cast a heroin for each star, it did take 50 mins to present each actor and actress. Bollywood does for sure has the money to spend not the brains to perform. War scenes and fights were pathetic as though children were playing hide and seek. I thought kargil was fought on tough weather conditions like snow, but hardly got to see any snow at all. U Cant film the entire war, a better idea would have been to show one or two places of capture with limited heroes and more of the true story as to what happened, that would have been more interesting rather than showing this boring stuff. A wonderful story to film but highly inexperienced scripting and presentation. But real kudos to all other technicians for the wonderful job. By the way Saif and Ajay Devagan acted well , much much better.
