The only reason that they have the "flaws"(as u think of them and I have no clue why......) in the movie,is because it is a movie and they can have some good things which won't happen in "real life"but can in "reel life".
Wht can't u just sit back and enjoy the movie and the wonderful performance of the actors, instead of finding faults with things that don't really matter......
It is petty to think that you can safely say that people living in other country lose the indian culture and heritage , but to tell you the truth the person how he percieves his culture is important and emulatesis more important .yes iam vey proud to say that iam an indian but i respect in same way the culture of america and its values ,that doesn't mean that i attend the clubs and drink but it is always good to take the best in every culture and try to improve life.so what i want to say that it is impotrtant for us not to forget indian culture but wrong picturisation of the people staying here in foreign countries has to be changed .every person who crossed the ocean to come here has a purpose to come here. yes important thing in life is culture because the day you are born that has influenced you in all ways.
The main problem with us (many Indians) is that we have serious inferiority complex and try to cover it by portraying our culture as the best in the world. Every country, be it Japan, Europe or South Africa, have equally great cultures. None of them try to portray that their culture is best in the world since they do not have this inferiority complex. Although I have been living in India throughout my life I have visited many countries and have realized that there is a lot in each of these cultures that is worth adopting and we are not in a position to tell the world what is right and wrong.
Please ignore these films since they try to sell what majority of the Indians wants to see to overcome their inferiority complex.
Thanks for providing us with your thoughts about the feelings of an Indian American. However I beg to differ on your argument. Indian Americans today are a hybrid breed of culture, struggling to find their identity in thick myriad of the concrete jungle called New York. India is a much better destination beyond any doubt. All that America can offer is materialism. I think that a common Indian's perception of an American born desi is accurate. Most of them are spoilt brats.
One needs to be level headed when forming opinions about others. Agreed that India is a poor country with its own mutitude of socio-economic problems. But please do not give examples of illogic as most American movies are the same. All they portray is glorified illogic. And remember you still have Indian blood evn though you are a NRI. So dont forget your roots and curb this feeling of hatred and irrespect to your fellow countrymen (Indians!! and not Americans)
one can not literally opt to choose any one option . all Indians are not like that which goes similar with that of NRIS . SO WHO IS BEST CAN BE JUDGED.
