I think either the author is naive or he thinks readers are naive. i do not understand how he has calculated the cost of one bed in a hospital to be Rs.4905? And he one place says this is cost of one bed and other place he says this is cost of one room. Is he sure of himself? And where from he has got the data that Insurance Companies are going to earn 30% profit? Does he know anything about insurance sector in India or he is talking about USA? For his information insurers in India operate Health Insurance in general at a cost around 130-140% of premium received by them. The situation in respect of govt. sponsored schemes is even worse. His expense estimates are exorbitant. For example in and around Chandigarh the hospitals already have a voluntary agreement to charge 31500 for Cesarian deliveries but this gentleman pegs the cost at above 50,000/- Clearly he is batting for hospitals and consultants who are already overcharging the patients. In practice it is generally observed that surgeons, their assistants and anesthetists are demanding very high fees and all medicines and consumables are billed at highly inflated rates. This practice needs to stop somewhere. Ayushman Bharat should help the small and medium hospitals in Tier II III and IV cities and big villages to provide better health facilities at reasonable cost and not help the big hospitals to further fleece the patients and insurance companies.

Why jump the Gun? Why decide everything before it is even started? Just wait and see as to how it works? Make corrections as it proceeds/progresses? No one can make a perfect plan in the first instance? Why kill the child even before it is born? "It is better to attempt and fail rather than not attempt at all"? Give our PM a chance.
