Demonitization
by Divakar Shetty on Nov 18, 2017 05:55 PM

Is a big problem for those who do not pay taxes, income tax or indirect taxes. There are thousands of people who own crores of property, drive luxury cars but would have paid single rupee in taxes.

Why these journalists go to these people ask about GST or demonetization? Why not ask them about their networth and the taxes they pay to govt and report the real impact of the demonetization.

Thief always fear the law. Do you interview them and report that law is wrong. Is this is how a democracy work and press freedom is used?

it is not right to say because of DEMO something went wrong, say some business would have been affected, but if the black money had been curbed ,it did a good fr our nation. During a war with the enemy some may lose his life but we figt to win. so every one has t bear it. In KERALA AL BRAHMINS LOST ALL TRE PROPRTIES DUE TO GOVERN MENT POLICY , WHO LIFTED US ? AUTOMATICALLY WE ALL GOT SLOWLY REINSTATED IN OUR SOCIETY BY NATURAL PROCESS.
SO BEAR IT DON' T LAMENT TOO MUCH

The politics of DEMo
by Devdutta Deshpande on Nov 15, 2017 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

This is a highly politically driven article. Alison Saldanha uses highly subjective and selective information and claims it to be " A Data Driven Article". There will always be arguments on whether DeMo was good or Bad, but this article is definitely not an Objective one. A typical anti Government ranting.

Mr Sheikh sir,
The purpose of Demo and GST is not to increase salaries.
Being a qualified tax practioner, i can tell that the both DEMO and GST are excellent for the INDIAN economy.
due to India being such a large and populous country, initial hiccups are bound to be there.
You may not like BJP that is understandable, but kindly do not defame Demo and GST.
Thanks!

Demonetisation after an year
by msubramanian tdr on Nov 15, 2017 10:01 PM

One year has since passed since Demonetization of high value notes have been introduced in the country and tax paying common citizen request Finance Ministry and RBI to come out with a white paper in the matter covering all the aspects like quantum of black money caught, cost incurred by the Government under various heads like printing of new notes, transportation of new notes through different modes including helicopter, advertisements made, shamianas erected in all the Bank branches throughout India, overtime compensation paid to the Bank staff, extra wages paid to the staff for printing of notes, storage of old notes and its destroyal, operation shredded notes, including time factor involved, reported army's help for the purpose, man hours and cost factor involved, cost factor thereof, loss of properties / lives, other attendant expenditure, cost of advertisements made, how the bottom line of the Banks moved from March 31, 2016 to March 31, 2017 to June 30, 2017 to September 30 2017, Movement of Non Performing Assets of the Banks (NPAs) during the said period, how GDP moved in the last 4 to 6 quarters etc. These type of information will certainly pave way to make a meaningful cost benefit analysis and also an eye opener while taking such major decisions, in future in larger / long term interest of the nation.

Sir,
Even in cleaning water tank , efforts in terms of time and money are incurred, but ,the benefits outweigh such expenses. Similarly, Demo was an excellent move which hit the black money hoarders like the corrupt political leaders, corrupt govt officers/ babu and businessmen the most.
