Privatization of Railways
by anand mukherjee on Sep 30, 2016 04:12 PM

We must do away with free Rly. passes to it's staffs and also all other Govt. service holders including Central and State Ministers. Govt. salaries now are as good as (if not better) private sector, hence if private sector employees can pay for their Rly. fare, then so should Govt. employees too. This will immediately take Railway into a proffiting industry and may even help Railway to lower some fares too.

Misplaced Priority
by dillip tripathy on Sep 30, 2016 12:16 PM

First thing they should do to privatise Air India, because there is no harm in it because there are other available option for public. They should close it. Let PM, CM or other Netas travel in private flyers.

Similarly, they should close Govt Telecom and Post, because private system is available.

But, there is no alternative for railway now. So Govt should allow private companies to built their railway line and provide service at a competitive cost. For instance, the bullet train project should be given to Adani or Ambani or somebody else to run it, instead pumping billion of Govt money in this project.

Government systems are inefficient. Privatisation of postal, telecom and airways etc helped puplic to great extent. Similarly privatisation of railways will be in greater public interest and boost economy. It will be a feather in the cap for the government

by Rajaram Kshirsagar on Sep 29, 2016 05:23 PM

Present trend of ticketing, Surge Pricing, All new trains with Tatkal Fare, Cancelling child fare, deleting cancellation. Just looting from the public. why people will travel by train if there is easy and economic option is available. By Surge pricing, railway is killed the brand of public transport. Hats of to the railway minister.

Privatisation
by arungopal agarwal on Sep 29, 2016 04:42 PM

It is needed to run any industry/service at competitive rates. The cost of Govt. worker say a labour or even class III employee is 3-4 times higher comparing to normal market rate. Majority of work is performed by this class only. The cost is more due to Maharaja like holidays, DA linked pension, perqs. viz. unlimited medical, LTC, bonus, subsidised canteen, and about 30-40 type of perqs.
Therefore all such employees always oppose privatisation whether it is bank, or rly or any other unit.
Our politicians are not dare enough to take any correction for it, rather Modiji also has declared 78 days bonus, Rs.1 lac crore impact on wage and pension revision etc.,etc.,
As such whatever is possible to privatise-govt. should do it delinking it totally from operational part.
