Prosperity to some, Poverty to most others
by R ponnabalam on Dec 26, 2016 03:28 PM

Prosperity is way of life for some, Austerity for some others and Poverty for most others Here is a piece from“ a newspaper in its report on 25th Dec2016 pg 2that reads “About93%of the children (15to18yrs)never celebrated their birth day,60% have never seen a movie, all children give their wages to their parents,90% of their parents were illetrates”It is in Telengana from a study done by MV Foundation in 5 slum clusters".India would show much more of if take pains to go for it in other states or in other places
This is our India whose livelihood portion is snatched away the INFORMAL ECONOMY as it doesn’t contribute to people of this sort of life or to its betterment. If these clutch or grip on the informal Economy can help people like in this survey it is worth it.R.PONNAMBALAM

Resilience of the ordinary Indians
by Jaideep Mathur on Nov 22, 2016 12:23 AM  | Hide replies

My observations on demonetization:

1. Exemplary work by bank employees irrespective of grade and gender. They rose up to the occasion beautifully.
2. Extremely cooperative behaviour by many of the shop keepers and service providers.
3. Kudos to many individuals and organisations for arranging tea/snacks for the people waiting in queues.

These are all ordinary Indians and this is what Indian-ness stands for, and this is what I am proud of my country.

Is it a different way of criticizing the demonetization? What is so great about it in standing Q or not standing? Everyone might have faced hundreds of problem in life but if it cant be blamed others for that, it is fine. Now this problem is for the country so makes hue and cry. It doesnt matter who born when, it only matters how much you know about past, present and future will be and do something for the humanity.

Pre-1991 era
by Janardanan Kunjunni on Nov 19, 2016 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Modi had requested all Indians to open an account in a bank with 'Zero' balance so that the poor people of India will have some idea about the bank, saving etc. The government benefits (subsidies etc) are also credited to their account directly, by eliminating the middlemen. Though around 25,00,00,000 Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, most of the people have not deposited 'whatever money' they have in these accounts. The Congress and communists discouraged the poor people in utilising the Jan Dhan bank accounts. And the BJP as a party did not do much to educate the people about the benefits of this account. Only Mr. Modi and some of his dedicated party members and ministers are working hard to see a corrupt-free, criminal-free India, black-money-free. First, Mr. Modi and Mr. Amit Shah must cleanse the party by throwing out some corrupt and inactive people from the BJP. It must be a party of good people who work for the development of our country. Modi has also given enough time to the people who have black money by asking them to voluntarily declare their income and pay tax(VDS). Still, the people thought that Modi will do NOTHING against them like corrupt Congress. Now, Modi, by taking a lot of risk, has acted strongly... and every corrupt and black-money holding people are scared. Yes, I know that ordinary people are also suffering, including me. However, we are ready to bear this pain for a corrupt-free, criminal-free and black-money-free country. Jai Hind

I am so pleased to read your views, in fact it seems like an analysis so nicely done. I further like to add to it that, it appears to common man that ruling party is responsible for the problems he faces due to demonetizing, but it is congress which did nothing for to curb growth of black money and allowed the infection to grow to such a big dimension that it needed such a surgical act.

You have to change your mindset against a particular party of a leader. First see the merits and demerits of a decision. Yes, there may be some shortcomings. But, it is our duty to raise that shortcomings and support the leader who does a good thing. If somebody is doing a good thing whether it is Congress, BJP or Communist, we must admire it. we must support it. If you don't like someone, that does not mean that whatever he does is wrong. It is not very easy to eradicate corruption from India in a day or two. If a leader who does not do any kind of NEPOTISAM, I think he is much better than any other corrupt politicians.

I am a member of AAP, that does not mean that I should oppose Mr. Modi for a good thing that he is doing. I am against corruption and nepotism, therefore, I am with AAP. Personally, Mr. Modi is a very good person, No doubt at all.

INDIA HASN'T MOVED MUCH
by coreindian on Nov 19, 2016 04:27 PM

YES U R RIGHT. BUT I THINK WE R STILL IN THE SAME ERA BEFORE DEMONETISATION OR AFTER IT. ONLY 1% OF US PAY INCOME TAX. MANY PEOPLE ESPECIALLY NON TAX PAYERS GO FOR 4-5 CHILDREN EVEN BEYOND. 70-80% PEOPLE DEFECATE IN OPEN. ILLITERACY IS SO HIGH ESPECIALLY AMONG WOMEN. WOMEN R STILL UNDER VEILS. MANY PEOPLE STILL DON'T HAVE BANK ACCOUNTS THOUGH THEY HAVE LAKHS IN THEIR HOME. WE HAVE SO MUCH OF ROAD ENCROACHMENT EVEN ON THE HIGHWAYS. HIGHLY CONGESTED COUNTRY STILL PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT FAMILY PLANNING. VERY FEW PEOPLE HAVE LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE. NOBODY WANTS TO FOLLOW RULES IN OUR COUNTRY. OUR TRAINS R STILL VERY SAME COVERING 200 KMS IN 6 HRS WITHOUT FOG. SO MANY SLUMS AND POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT. EVEN TODAY WE DON'T HAVE 24 HR ELECTRICITY. PEOPLE DIVORCE THEIR WIVES ON PHONE. BUT ONE SHOULD BE TOLERANT FOR ALL THESE THINGS.
