GST Rate
by Harkishan Haswani on Aug 04, 2016 07:56 PM  | Hide replies

What if the GST Rate is just 5% on each and every transaction instead of multiple levels and multiple types of existing direct/indirect taxes. I think ALL would love it though GOVT would not loose any penny. FM you may please TRY to calculate and find out the correct answer before declaring GST Rate.

The general implication seems to be same rates all over india. Doing away with complex tax structure is welcome. Let us keep it in mind in RS the bill has been passed unanimously. All previous govts have been in favour of GST...

GST WILL BE BENEFICIAL IN LONG TERM
by Shilpa Mehta on Aug 04, 2016 05:06 PM  | Hide replies

Don't get misunderstood .

Food grocery items in general ie grains , pulses , vegetables , milk will be cheaper under GST & beneficial for common man .

It's eating outside in star hotels will be costlier where services will be rendered . Why to go outside & eat ?? Eat at home , SIMPLE .

Regarding medicine : It's prices will remain same as earlier .

Definitely Cigarettes & Liquor must get costlier & should be always out of reach of common man . NO NEED TO SMOKE OR BOOZE .
VERY BAD HABITS .

Yes , train & air fares should not increase that's not in interest of common people .

But by & large GST will boost exports , both central & states GOVT will benefit from it in long term , foreign investments will rise , more job opportunities will be created , GDP & economy will get a boost .

almost all services will be costlier now. our Gov is always ready to raise the taxes, but what about the quality of the services?, whose gonna take care of that.
recently bread prices raised by 25%, now GST will bring that down by how much %.
Gov just filling their pockets and emptying ours.
Little hope, might MODI gov will provide better services by our tax money.

Now after GST : Tax rate is one for all rich/poor, Luxury/basic items, so simple poor and middle class will be sufferer and rich/businessman/industries would be in advantage position.

Mere speculation

The above guesstimates are a mere speculation. The exact GST structure is NOT known as yet. A national outcry would emerge if medicines are made dearer.

People are paying premium on medicines. I guess such kind of articles would spread chaos and unrest in general public. Online journalism is irresponsible.
