Tata's failure in cars!!
by chris on Oct 01, 2014 09:18 PM  | Hide replies

Bewildering it is to learn the failure of TATA in small vehicle segment when they were the leaders in commercial vehicles. Remember watching vehicle survey in BBC's vehicle show, given year TATA Indica which was marketed in Europe by fiat was declared the worst car!! Something similar in South Africa also. Why TATAs do not concentrate on quality with quantity - the success mantra of Japanese? Now as highest selling luxury car and jewel in auto arena Jaguar in TATA stable yet they are not able to introduce a quality vehicle in India ?? Pathetic.

SUCCESS OF TATA CARS

The TATA are in doldrums for the car segment because :
1.The quality are not upto the international standards.
2.The engine in all segment has a screeching noise and it keeps on growing with life of car .
3.Riding comfort compared to other cars in same segment are less .
4.For countries like India which is developing at fast pace , people have now become quality conscious , What TATA are doing are good in monopoly market , but world is changing and TATA have to change too .
5.The driving comfort of MARUTI ,HONDA , HUNDAI cars are better , the engines are responsive , cabins are provided with better sound insulation .
6.The TATA should open their mind to understand the sucess of Hundai i10 , or Maruti - Swift , regarding technical standards , marketing standrrds , service standards .
7.There is nothing in this world - made by humans that cannot be improved , I love the Indian brand , and want it to lead the world car market .

Strategic blunders
by M G on Oct 01, 2014 08:06 PM  | Hide replies

The problem with Tata Motors is that it never had any professional management to decide the strategy of the Company. It was always Mr. Tata with his knowledge of European markets who was deciding the product strategy. Also his own personal love for cars was manifested in Tata Motors diversifying into cars. There was no technology and no market research ever done to even decide the specs of the vehicles. For eg. why Nano doesn't sell is that its positioned as a cheap car while still in that segment, car is a status symbol and an aspirational product rather than a utility product. If they want to get on track, the Company needs to get a bit scientific and start taking some sensible business decisions rather than throwing the money for personal fancies. Its good that JLR is selling but it had almost taken the Company bankrupt., They just survived because of luck. You can't get lucky all the time. There needs to be some real corporate governance in the Company othereise its a high rirk organisation for investors...

Worst After Sales Service
by Vinayak Mahindrakar on Oct 01, 2014 07:49 PM

I am from Goa and Tata has not chosen the correct dealers for its cars to sell and also provide after sales service. The Tata dealer in Goa has non efficient technical staff who are paid badly which has resulted in very poor service, as these technicians are not bothered in quality of service as they are underpaid. I suggest to kindly review its after sales service on urgent basis to assure better after sales service.
