where is the 100 per annum going
by tester on Jan 15, 2014 10:43 AM

SBI already charges 100RS per annum to give an ATM / Debit Card. How much more do they want to charge? It is the only bank probably all over the world to charge customers for an ATM /Debit card even in this age. They should instead look at utilizing their funds and money properly in training their employees to treat customers with respect and dignity. Reduce the perks to the Bank Managers and trim down the employees. It is ridiculous to see a peon in the bank who does nothing but taking slips from one desk to another even in todays age of electronic banking. Fire them all

SBI should nt charge for ATM usage
by BALAMURALI KRISHNA on Jan 13, 2014 02:10 PM

SBI should nt charge for ATM usage. If we go to bank and withdraw they have to appoint some more staff - i.e they are making profir on human resource. Now, they want to charge us for security reasons. very unfair.

Instead of charging the hapless customer try cutting salaries of your overpaid, lethargic staff.

by Krishna iyer on Jan 13, 2014 12:42 PM

Very bad approach ..next they will charge customers for asking doubts,...High time SBI realizes its responsibility and not behave like a foreign bank or ICICI....ETC

Limiting free 5 own-bank transactions and other banks 2, per month, may not cause much hardship to SBI customers.

What a pity idea!!!
by top Prakash on Jan 13, 2014 12:21 PM

First they encouraged use of ATMs and started charging for counter transactions. When they started earning profit now they want to charge ATM.
SBI has worst record of opening ATMs in scrupulous manner. Two ATMs at a distance of 200 mtr or in same building. No coordination between their Stat Bank Group ATMs (SBBJ and SBT has their ATM at the same place.)

Don't know if they want to do it for their FAT salary only. More profit but no service.

Why has SBI come out FIRST and OPENLY ??
by Edison John on Jan 13, 2014 12:19 PM  | Hide replies

Rediff may not publish this. But fact is a fact. The salary establishment costs of SBI per one/lakh/Crore of Rupees is one of the highest among Nationalised and other big private sector banks. There are various reasons for this. A Junior just recruited Direct Recruit Officer in Mumbai is supposed to get TOTAL BENEFTS of Rs 59,000 per month,( This was mentioned in their Officers Recruitment advertisement ) whereas the Total Benefits of a NEW Direct Recruit Officer in Mumbai of a Nationalised Bank DRO is FAR FAR Less. SBI gives 4 additional increments to a NEW DRO ( probably on the assumption that the best among the best should come to SBI ) Consequently, pay scales of virtually everyone in SBI is HIGHER than the employees of other NATIONALISED Banks. SBI does virtually ALL the GOVERNMENT business ( which is either NO business at all or it is not lucrative enough for the efforts put in. ) In the last wage settlement, SBI had a settlement which was different ( higher ) from the Nationalised Banks. Their employees draw atleast about 25 to 30 % MORE than Nationalised Banks. The PENSION payments to SBI poensioners are showing differences of Rs 3000 to 6000 at the lowest levels and upto 20 to 30 thousand at higher levels. NPAs of SBI can only be naturally higher than other banks, because of huge volume of business in Government sponsored loans to weaker sections, which MAY , ultimately have to be written off. No wonder then, that, SBI is in the forefront

CHARGES FOR ATM USAGE
by mamidi venkata prabhakar gupta on Jan 13, 2014 12:15 PM

It is to bring to the notice of concerned, if restrictions put on usage of ATM, there is a need to increase staff also. Now with meagre staff, SBI is able to cater the needs of the customers. If all the customers coming to bank for all transactions, man power must be doubled. Hence requested not to put any restrictions for usage of ATMs. If ATMs are more, they can put limitation of recruitment of staff.
Hence requested not to put any restrictions on usage of ATMs. Also NPA assets must be coming to NIL so that no financial problem will arise.
Thanking you

SBI E banking console
by arupratan sit on Jan 13, 2014 12:06 PM

in HVF Avadi, they have installed E Banking console without 'enabaling' most of the manus.
one console is lying idle for months.
one E banking console prints only passbook...most of the time there is no network. at least it should have been connected to the branch. Staff show that terminal to print most of the time...though it is down. ink level also goes unnoticed.
