The company has not taken any measures when it received the first complaint, and there is incident of a more serious complaint later, that they have not verified the antecedents of the driver. These are serious lapses on the safety and security of the people traveling in the said cabs. Rather than giving more and more chances to an irresponsible agency, it would be better to look for some responsible agency who meet the safety and security requirement and give license to them to operate so that life of innocent people are not played with. It is not the monopoly of one one agency.
Social issues cannot be solved with technology. Rape is a "hate crime" in India..Caste created crime and criminals.Google "Map Shows Most Racist People On Earth".
Mr Vinod, A better solution would be to outsource our Legal system to Singapore or Hong Kong. Our courts, police stations, highway safety, speedy prosecution of trials etc cannot be done by India.
I agree to Mr. Khosla that the Uber should not be banned. Uber is a service the banning of which adds to the problems of the users and the staff appointed ie drivers etc. It is not the service which was at fault but the management and the persons dealing with this had committed the blunder. In my opinion Uber should be allowed to function but an exemplary punishment should be awarded to the persons in the top management/ CEO and the persons at the helm of affairs in India. They have committed the blunder and have directly or indirectly abetted the crime. Hence they should also be arrested and put behind the bars for equal punishment as to the main offender. Management should further be told to set the things right in a fix time frame (may be a week or so) otherwise stern action shall be taken against them.
In every such incidents govt. take an immediate step to get rid of people's outcry and later govt. will reconsider the ban. So both are happy. After some time both (people and govt.) will forget the matter and wakeup when such incident comeup next time. This is the routine procedure...
