Amartya Sen

Amartya Sen is the most overrated Economist. His
Theories are typical of his Bengalee Origin. Maximum Theory and Minimum of Practical Use. No wonder Bengal is the Worst state in India in spite of Intellectual people!

The Food Security Bill is an out and out Political Act which even the Agricultural Minister has reservations about the Practicality Aspect
I am NOT writing in support of it at all. It is the Dying Gasp of UPA to get Votes at the expense of the country.[I dont care if Amartya Sen Supports it]

Spot on kraft. Totally agree with you. Thanks to 'intellectuals' like Sen, West Bengal is now Waste Bengal. Non-resident Bengalis know this and don't want to return to Waste Bengal. Even Amartya Sen prefers to live outside, rather then return home to practise his theories.

My dear Kraft. The bill is a witcraft. Sounds more like vote security bill. Waking up at the tail end of their term the power hungry UPA is obviously in an undue hurry to have the bill passed, and pass the bill (it is going to cost heavily on the exchequer) to the unsuspecting population of Bharatvarsh.

Kiske baap ki diwalee ?

totally agreed with you. i was shockedd to read the lame_excuses for UPA's economics given by this Sen.. even a layman like me could figure out in 2008 that UPA is leading us to economic_doom. the 'redistribution' part is really the great socialist knockout_punch; there is no talk about wealth generation or job creation, simply moribund, stterile redistribution. god_save us from UPA and ppseudos like this Sen.

We need change in 2014 -- for better India to save India.

UPA (Congress) had 3 step strategy (1) Punish & Abstract more & more money from Tax Payers (2) Give away this money to their VOTE BANK (3) Come back in Power using same VOTE BANK & Start Punishing All TAX Payers for their Personal Motives... Can anyone tell me, as a tax payer what benefit you are getting from this GOVT ??? Don't you think as a tax payer you should have some right & privilege in the country ? ----

Here the privilege has been given to who don't pay any tax ! They are getting all special benefits & treatment from GOVT ...

Congress is looking INDIA as their BUSINESS AREA & to keep it's BUSINESS Running, they use all such mechanism which keep most of the People in the country to BEG ?

solution
by AUGUSTINE DIAS on Jul 10, 2013 02:09 PM

This article is falling short of offering a solution to the problems, solution lies in recovering taxes from huge black money operators literally running a parallel economy, money staked in overseas banks illegitimately, crushing the trader/builder/Buisness/politicians/underworld nexus, make people capable of paying for the right price of essential commodities, empower, educate & employ them in some trade gnerating income & mak them pay taxes & then give them infrastructural benefits, emphasis must be given to developing a robust domestic trade & industry, encourage research & its implementation, make people live a life with self respect & dignity

RRE
by Ramesh Koushik on Jul 10, 2013 02:07 PM

Terms like "RRE" are high sounding in the context of UPA. In TN, the previous govt did the same and the motive of the then CM was to preside over smoothly, the transfer of power to progeny. This crippled the state's economy and as far as the people were concerned, they faced huge power cuts. Hence in 2011, the party could not retain power despite heading a very powerful alliance. The same thing holds for UPA too -here too, the motive is to see the progeny of the head of UPA being installed as PM (with clear majority for its major partner- the results are similar for the people(instead of power cuts , it is a series of scams here). We hope to see a repeat of TN(2011) in the all India level too in 2014.

simple theory
by ar on Jul 10, 2013 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

No economy will work if people are given free food, clothing, shelter and medicals. Modern economic theories have failed everywhere because they basically focus on eating what others have grown and also on applying some patchwork to push the problems to a future date. These problems will only become bigger in future. Only one model will work, where people are encouraged to do work and benefits are given to only those who work.

It may not exist as of now. Govt should focus on that and make changes wherever necessary. Directly giving the fruits of labor is only likely to make people lazy, and more dangerously, more demanding. There is no fruit without labor. It is against nature. Anything against nature is bound to fail.
