Have see some senseless comments from immature and ignorant people about UP & Bihar in this thread.
These people to note that UP & Bihar have historically been the leading regions in the WORLD not only in India. Great civilizations and emperors like Ashoka, Harshvardhana, Gupta dynasties, and leading world universities like Nalanda made this region among the most educated and rich in the world. The Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vedas all originated here. Great religions like Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism originated here. India takes pride in Chanakya, Arya bhatta who all come from this region. Just think.
Yes there has been a phase of few decades of backwardness which is minuscule period in history but that has already started to Reverse !!!

Fully agreed. this people have the habit to directly go in the before Christ era to hide their failures.
Surat's rise to top is stunning. Its a perfect example of development. Once declared the dirty city of plague in 1994, it has improved a lot.
Hyderabad been ranked so low is disappointing. The city is much better.
Kanpur is perfect example of total neglect by UP Government. This city which is among top 10 in terms if GDP and education, could have done better if the bosses sitting in Lucknow had paid even a small attention on this top revenue earner of the state. No wonder why UP will always be known as "Ulta Pradesh".:-)
On wat basis the above is measured ?? Have u ever lived mumbai or delhi in rains...wat abt rate of crime..wat about basic aminities..its all nonsense..Why Greater Noida is not considered..

Please mind that if Delhi is mentioned then it includes Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. These satellite towns do not have any independent identity and they exist and flourish only because of Delhi. Otherwise they would had been like any remote village of India.

Yes this a "Man made" List. If you see Quality of life and infrastructure CHANDIGARH is way above all these cities.

Chandigarh is not as big these cities. All these cities have floating population 50 lakhs and they are the top job creators and wealth producers in the country.
Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar etc are nice to live, but they are consumer cities. They do not give anything to the country except for hosting dirty politicians and bureaucrats.
With vibrant social and cultural life, open to all linguists, beliefs, religions;greenery, fresh vegetables and wide ranging fish, cheapest transport cost and finally exquisite housing Kolkata is the best city to live in. Don't believe in anti-propaganda.

kolkata is currenty at no 5, but under the legendary(YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN), the worst cheift minister (junglee cat) it is going to became the worst top 5 cities to live in. So dont jump upside down shyamal, your joy is going to be shortlived
