@Competition on Fair Ground is Good
by rama anne on Oct 02, 2012 12:52 PM  | Hide replies

we cannot isolate and not allow competition

Competition is GOOD and Progressive and helps to lift better standards of living by offering choice and quality of Goods to consumer and producer

But Govt of India has to put Checks and Balances (Governance and reforms)

also allow local entreprenuers to compete with MNCS

That means
Trunk Infra like
Freight Rail
Power availability

Walmart can bring Millions of dollars and probably purcahse the GE equiptment

Kiranawallah as it is unable to purchase and cannot compete should not happen

Rather he also get Freight rail transport (affordable0
Power at affordable costs

then GOvt of India allow Competition

Then Kiranawallah compete if he cannot then it is not Govts responsibility

But Govt should take responsibility to get freight rail (Indian railways) and State electricity Boards(power) ,that is Govts job
=====
But as it is UPA govt is misfit and not eligible to open the FDI in retail

Let BJP led NDA govt take power

we will see sri Yashwanth Sinha frame proper regulation

we will see NDA speed up Dedicated freight corridor (Indian Railways)

apply GUJARAT like power sect reforms

apply Amul like registered coperatives (Kiranawallahs)

Then yes FDI in Retail is a Fair Game baby
and will be good

we are not averse to it but it has to be regulated
proper checks in place
and core infra in place as well

Iam in AUST syd and Iam not AFRAID to say

I do not simply trust UPA Govt
I do not Trust Dr Manmohan singhji

yes you heard me right Iam not Hindutva or BJP supporter

I have to let NDA come back to power

I trust sri Yashwanth Sinha

he opened up Insurance sect previously

he knows his job

I also trust
Sri Rajiv Pratap Prudy as Civil Aviation Minsiter

UPA govt destroyed AIR INDIA ,it put some Gustad as CEO for 6 months
it also does not know how to make
New deLHI or Hyd or Bangalore as hub

it is trying to make DUBAI AS hub and misguiding sri Navin Patnaik with some Bhubaneshwar International airport

sri Rajiv Pratap Rudy very sharply realised and asked this question on NDTV straightaway

I would Trust NDA GOVT
they will make indian aviation better

Congress led UPA is not correct Govt for indias national interests and Iam not afraid to say this Fact at all

Rajan Mittal on why jobs won't be lost in retail sector
by Hebbar R on Oct 02, 2012 12:52 PM

FDI in Retail will certainly have a positive effect on Mittals and it is therefore no wonder that he is supporting this. But, let Mr. Mittal be clear. Either he agrees or opposes. In his views, he agrees where it suits him. But, where he has no answers, he says that India is different. If Walmart was good for the Farmers, why is it that Farmers in US and Europe are getting increased support from the Govt? Why is it that the Govt in US got the infrastructure ready and not Walmart? How will the Govt service the FDI, when profits will be taken away from India in FE? How will the Govt find FE for imports of upto 70% by these FDIs? There is no gurantee that even the remaining 30% will be from locally available materials. Much of this could well be CKDs/SKDs imported from China and assembled in India.

What else Mittals say
by HumHainaa on Oct 02, 2012 12:51 PM

Mittal is hand in glove with Walmart which has already 20 cashncarry stores in India and is even expanding. So he has biz interest in FDI retail, so he will give rosy picture of it.

Real truth Indians know, and hence they are against these Chains.

Why?
by ASHOK KUMAR on Oct 02, 2012 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

The GOIr has made Sales Tax Rules, IT rules, Excise Rules difficult and complex that no body can follow correctly.

Starting any industry, business, taking electrical connections has been made so much difficult.

In stead of allowing Wall Marts to open business in India who are supposed to invest thousands of crores i.e scope of hundreds of crores of bribe the GOI should make laws for opening business and industry so simple that any person with even a thousand rupees is able to open an industry or business without delay and without bribe.

Allowing foreigners and speaking on their behalf smells a rat when no word is spoken for Indian enterpreners.

Am I right?

NOT ONLY LOST JOBS --- BUT MORE SPENDING
by mangesh mhatre on Oct 02, 2012 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

Not only LOST JOBS for Small Retailers, but this move will also hit customers as well, since all these stores are designed in such a way that all junk is displayed at the entrance - such as Cold drinks, Fried snacks, Juices, Fatty food such as Butters, cheese. But most necessary items such as Grains & pulses are stored somewhere in the corner at the end.
So a customer ends up purchasing more of useless items till he reaches Grains, pulses, Cooking oil etc. = This is not the case with our 'Wania' or retailer - since people always approach him with a list of requirements & purchase ONLY REQUIRED ITEMS.

If you agree with me, say 'YES'

DO you mean to say that you will refrain yourself from purchasing "American originated" needless stuff from such stores?
Looking to the common Indian mentality, my statement is correct.

Lastly - It has always been a 'Marathi Manoos', who has stood against invaders - right from Shiavji Maharaj to
'ANNA' in present days - who have forced govt for 'RTI ACT' - which has brought so many scams to light till date & he is still fighting for Lokpal -which will probably reduce corruption to great extent.

@No Lokpal and notorious Corruption in India
by rama anne on Oct 02, 2012 12:37 PM

There are instances even countries like Australia did bribe

indonesia to supply Plastic Currency (refer Sydney Morning herlad newspaper)

Philippines Boats contract

Saddam Hussein IRAQ oil for wheat program ,wheat was sold by Australia wheat borad even inspite of UN sanctions (kickbacks paid as well)
----
SIEMENS disclosed it paid bribes in 15 different countries that it operates as well
(who knows if India was one of them)refer to BBC news archives

so Given the Notorious Corruption and Indian polity (2g spectrum ,cwg 2010 ,Defense broker scam etc)

MNcs can easily Bribe the establishment ,take Union Carbide Bhopal Gas case

so we need Checks and Balances

that is why people of India supported LOKPAL movement
we need the LOKPAL ,consumer protection courts (Fast Track)

only then we can feel confident and open up for fdi in retail

@Priorities need to be worked out before opening up
by rama anne on Oct 02, 2012 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Sunil Bharathi Mittal
=====================
In Countries like USA ,AUSTRALIA ,CANADA etc
the institutions are empowered

For Exanmple
----
i)Australia has strong Consumer protection courts and checks against Corruption
where as INDIA
Defence secrets and deals are done by a broker called sri Abhishek Verma (read the news and CBI reports )

2g spectrum ,Coal gate scam etc

so WALMART or others can Bribe
We need LOKPAL in place
---
Second point is
-----
where is POWER in india ,there is shortage ?

UPA Govt missed the crucial power sect reforms

Where is Dedicated freight corridor
Delhi Mumbai Corridor got Cabinet approval in 2007 this is 2012 5 years atleast DEDICATED FREIGHT CORRIDOR should have been finished as priority before opening FDI in retail

so Power and Rail transport are missing links ?

so UPA did not do the Governance part properly and it has no basis to open FDI in retail

Let this UPA govt go and Let NDA govt come

they will do Transport and power sect reforms
allow Kirana to compete with registered Amul like Cooperatives
and then will allow FDI in Retail

Then it will be a Fair game
otherwise Dollars or Punds vs Indian rupee is skewed in their favour
just as it is Kiranas have no ammunition to compete

also

Competition has to be on equal footing

any Govt has the responsibility to look after its people

so Kiaranawallahs are also Indian people (citizens) and please do not use the term 'Baniya' it is derogatory word

So Govt of India is for the people by the people and of the people

so it has to make sure that they can compete with MNCs

that means they have access to Freight Corridor and storage as well

then Open up FDI in retail It will be a Fair Game

billions in making
by Pinal Morakhia on Oct 02, 2012 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

he is bound to say this. Bharti group is Walmart partner. So FDI means lot of money for them. They will earn huge once such stores start. He is not realising that local kirana will become workers in their shops. The local kirana shops will shut eventually. It has happen the world over and so why it wont happen in India. Kiaran will loose slowly over a period of time.
