India should focus on population reduction and impoving the quality of life of its people. It is time India does something about population reduction on drastic scale. What is the use of having GDP or cars when basic things like food, clothing and shelter is not within the reach of more than 90% of the population?

in a country like india... you really can't control the population.. instead you have to concentrate on how to increase the infrastructure very quick and how to utilize the natural resources effectively... as india is mostly with crooked politicians these things cant be done easily

there is a limit to which infra can be improved. and with people reproducing like rats - any infra that you put in place today becomes overcrowded in a few years. the previous commentator ar is correct - there has to be a drastic population policy and implementation.

JUST LIKE A MOTHER DOES NOT THINK BAD OF HER CHILD, NEVER FORGET, INDIA WHAT IS TODAY, STANDING PROUDLY AS THE 3rd RICHEST COUNTRY, IS DUE TO CONGRESS, after all congress bought us freedom from the white sahibs, how can congress think and do bad to us.
The statistics about China are totally and utterly wrong and outdated. One only needs to point out that China is not the world's 3rd largest economy, it is the 2nd largest at 2010 GDP of $6.28 trillion. China's per capita income is far above the figure quoted in the article. The per capita car ownership is also erroneous in that it omits to mention it is the (wrong) figure for 2009. 2010 alone puts close to 25 million cars on the road in China. So 90 cars per 1000 citizens is loser to the truth. total waste of time and space printig such gabbage.

Dear friend, your hatred for china and love for whites beceome obvious. World bank has catagorized China as lower middle income country and not a poor country. People like you can not be accepted in this world, because you are writing these things without reading the things and out of superiority feeling. Is it great for your whites to have ass full debt and claim to be rich. Can you see any happy future for you? The greatest achivement for you will be to maintain the present wealth with debts. 21 century beongs to India and China man, off course you and me may not live to see it. If your America is great why did you have 14.6 trillion dollar loan and 1.2 trillion debt to China? Why UK has 400 % loan, while china has only 17% loan?

Here goes another semi-literate Indian.DEBT is not a measure of economy and living standards. 21st century,22nd and so on...all will belong to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. NO MATTER WHO LIVES TO SEE IT AND WHO DOES NOT !
China and India will never offer the luxurious lifestyle like the West.
