Cycles, China and Far east. Anyway, to be happy, Infrastructure to match vehicle density
Useless article giving worthless information. In what way the number of cars for every 1000 people be an indicator for any thing-certainly not about the development made, but only the extent of comforts one gets used unmindful of his/her income levels-especially in the context of growing materialism being encouraged by laxity in the loan sanctions & the unfair means of people's earnings. As Goldsmith rightly told,"as wealth accumulates, men decay"- & the decay in case of developing countries like India ,it is certainly in terms of the morality, honesty sincerity & several basic qualities needed for a healthy Nation. So,let us not flex our muscles just because either we stand in the forefront of car manufacturing or because the number of car used has substantially increased.I am not against our enjoying the comforts, but basically against procuring them at the cost of our values which are on decrease day by day.Once car was a status symbol in our country when values are at peak & was owned only by those who really could afford with their hard earned monies, but today every one tries to have it by hook or cook;for them end is more important than the means to get it.And half of the middle class people now feel it to be a necessity though factually it is not so.We are suffering from a false prestige. As long as we run after these things, there is no real happiness & peace.

If we build enough roads and good infrastructure combined with good traffic control, 100/1000 will also not be a problem.Yes,it will increase pollution and lungs and heart related diseases and will contribute more to depletion of the Ozone layer even faster..

would you imagine the price of crude then?
Also if India had 100/1000 cars, and the roads and parking places were widened to suit them, cities will grow four times larger with same population as it has now.
in India own a car a night mare. fuel cost is 4 times high than its neighbouring country. petrol sold in malaysia, pakistan, bangladesh at Rs 17/- a litre. In India it sold at rs 70/- a litre. car manufacturing in India, the customer buying price in that the tax component ( central excise, customs, service tax, sales tax, vat, life tax, road permit, insurance) is 70% that means 140% of the citizen was looted in every car sale. no roads, no infrastructure. citizen pay huge money for road tax but no repair nor new ones to match the vehicle population. in that way china is much ahead than India. In India main problem corrupt politicians, educated illiterate politicians as finance ministers to inflation, price rise, looting indian revenue.

You are completely wrong in your assessment, fuel price in these countries is low because they produce a lot of their own fuel, also Pakistan is completely gas-based because it produces a lot of it. As to taxes, we and every country taxes its products, so it will be taxed, if edible oil is taxed and custom and excise is applied then crude oil will also have to be taxed, on crude oil customs is only 5% and excise is not much either, why are you always blaming the country? I would love to hear from you as you educated literate.
UNO to instruct the Nations which are producing more number of cars to follow strictly the pollution control to reduce the global warming and encourage countries which produce cars without petrol/diesel/gas and using other remedies to control pollution and global warming. The production of cars which release pollution to be stopped so that future generation is not affected. D.SUBBA RAO

We need to have separate cycle lane like in advanced countries so that managers of MNCs stop uses of cars and travel to work in bicycle. This way, they will do a great favour to their children and grand children...
In New Zealand,Luxemborg etc people are very rich.
In China, they have beautiful roads and car loan is given at an interest rate of 4-5%.In China,I also see, number of women, driver cars is much much higher than India. In China, rarely people keep drivers, they drive their own car unless they want to drink because if some one drinks and drives, his driving license will be cancelled for six years and he will be put in jail for 6 months.
In India,
1) Very few people are rich 2)Car loan interest is too high 3) Above all,we donot have roads to drive good car, what we have are narrow lanes with traffic jamm and pot h0les.First we need good infrastructure and traffic control and discipline to drive smoothly.
