Reversing the process of making plastic...if at all possible at a cost effective way, a good boon for enviornment by reusing all the plastic which is an enviornmental hazzard.
Prof.Alka Zadgaonkar was the first in India to Catalytically convert waste plastic into Petroleum. Since Plastic is derived from crude Petroleum,it was theoretically possible to convert Waste plastic into Petroleum. But it was achieved by her in 2004.
•The Zadgaonkars are currently running a 5 MT plant at Nagpur and the fuel is used for running captive power generators in industrial units in and around Nagpur.

Exactly...this is right. Do rediff do any research before publishing this type of stale and old invention that too already achieved by an Indian scientist?
This is indeed a wonderful invention. It is now left to the Indian Government to patent the process and see to it that it is implemented at the earliest at all cities and towns which produce the plastic wastes. Congratualtions to Mr. Garg and team; hope they are suitably rewarded too.
I have read a new's item about 5/6 yrs back on the same subject a Lady from Nagpur Maharashtra has already done this and perhaps attempted to obtain her IP too. This seems to be duplication in efforts made by individuals, including Mr Raman Pillai famous Tamil Nadu, Petrol inventor
This great achievement will not only give extra fuel at our disposal but cleanse our atmosphere of the hazards of non degradable plastic lying here and there unattended in the city dumps.Hats off to Dr. M.O.Garg and his team.
