TATA the loser !
by whatswrongpeople on May 25, 2011 12:44 PM  | Hide replies

What did TATA do for the poor of the country ? He bought big business outside India and what is in store for the poor of the country....nothin. Ratan Tata has reared pets like Niira Radia to get what he wants like 2G....spread corruption. He is a sore loser accusing people like AMBANI and others. Tata gifted a farm house outskirts of delhi to niira radia.......Tata brought stay on the niira radia and his tapes in supreme court........why ?

If not Ratan Tata, the contribution of TATA's is:

1. IISC at Bangalore
2. TISS - Mumbai
3. Tata memorial Hospital for cancer
4. TIFR Mumbai
5. TCS
6. Tata steel
7. Tata cofee
8. Tata motors

The list goes on...

And still Ratan Tata's stake in TCS in not as Ambani's stake in RIL.

You can also add introduction of civil aviation in India by Tatas (Naval Tata first pilot to bring air postal in India). Both Air India and Indian Airlines originally belonged to them.

Antilla - Its a hope
by RokhPunThok on May 25, 2011 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

Antilla gives hopes to billions of Indians that there are oppurtunities for everyone in India to chase their dreams.

If anyone has earned the money he/she is free to spend it.

Why Tatas infringe in the privacy of an individaul is not understood.

Charity will always make people dependent and they will never think of rising from poverty

Read Warren Buffets donation pledge. You will understand it.

If you do not understand - I do not know what to say of you.

Warren Buffet has pledged 99% of his wealth to charity. Inspite of being richer than Mukesh Ambani.

After all, WB also earned his wealth himself. Why does he not live in a 2 billion dollar 27 storey aprtment?

That is why he is called the sage of Omaha.

Good I appreciate your act.... Keep it up....

The other thing... no one can dictate anyones choice..... neither Warrens, Ambanis, your, mine etc...... It is the individuals choice how he treats his money..... and it is a perception..... Ex: Robin Hood: He looted and distributed the wealth maybe coz his conscience must not be permitting....

May be its true with Warren... He must be feeling he is looting people and hence he should donate.... Perception my friend... and choice

Rokh - pls understand. It is not me or you winning an argument. Neither of us become great by that.

The point is that if you have immense wealth, let us all try to live a somewhat i repeat somewhat frugal life. If a rich man does not care for the poor, let him/her not. Let the poor not feel that they are living in abject poverty while the rich live in such exotic luxury.

FYI - When RIL shares reached 3000 Rs. in 2008 at a time when sensex was 21000, Mukesh Ambani was the richest man for a very short period of time in the world with a net worth of 63 billion dollars.

Does that satisfy you...

Ambani was richer than the SAGE at that time...is it not?

Do u really think that Ambani will let other competitors grow? They will kill the competetion to ensure that they remain on the top. they are dictating terms to a lot of industries and particularly the plastic industry. If they are really astute businessmen with ethics and morals then they will let the competetion to survive.

why do we target ambani.. do'nt we all aspire for a bigger house, car, etc.. no one tells us what should be our spending limit..
we d'nt buy a smaller house or car or practice austerity just because millions live in slums by this logic so many rich people living in fancy south mumbai should downgrade their lifestyle just because of poverty in mumbai..
ambani's choice of home and lifestyle is pretty much the same as ours ..where we spend as much as we can afford to..and aspire for better things in life.. be it a phone, travel, house, car..etc

Mr Pradip, good arguments.
I feel few thing r missing in whole:
1- Can Ambani's wealth be considered a personal?
2- He earned it because of tremendous support from social, national & 1000s of employees. 3- He made it by using national resources, which belongs to all Indians.
4- Many times govt. appears favored Reliance in policy making.
5- Reliance has many subsidiaries which might have created for tax evasion purpose only

And finally, show me one who did worked with full of honesty and earned in billions. Definitely, no one will find a single person.

So poor Indians definitely deserves a small pie of Ambani's wealth.

Cheers,

Slums in mumbai are illegal structures occupying govt land
by pradeep agarwal on May 25, 2011 11:59 AM  | Hide replies

It is ironical that slums running parallel to electric train route has virtually sealed any future scope for clean Mumbai. The immigrants who came to Mumbai in millions were made to build shanties with support from politicians & mafia are now legal occupants of what was railway land. The way city has been crushed with illegal constructions & unbearable population pressure will certainly cause in near future a disaster of unbelievable magnitude

to some extent you are right, but NOT all the slum dwellers are not poor..once get an alternate accommodation they will quietly give the place on rent and will OCCUPY some other 'vacant' place. they are also more greedy..for freebies..

Mennon,
The policy of allowing illegal encroachment to be legalised has caused huge tracts of slums. The mafia first make people occupy the place & than use its political connections to get it regularized. The only way forward is not to let this happen through strict action against officials & politicians.

How many children does each of this slum dweller have? Considering the fact that they don't have a roof over their heads, cannot afford 2 square meals a day, they still breed !! They could be equated with animals or may be worse than them ? Animals don't have brains slum dwellers do.

Mr Pradeep, u seem to have limited knowledge. There are enough proof with the investigation agencies of how corrupt our Corporates are including TATA, only problem her is most of the bureucrats and almsost all politicans are the same. So its difficult for the investigation team to disclose the same(as even them most are corrupt or under too much pressure).
Dont get sentimental about TATAs every buisness man is involved in some form of corruption and malpratices. If we understand it better for us.
