Ha ha ha ,right Kachar Patti, this so called englishhh Intellect is having the habits to tilt the name ,suiting to their linguistic ability. The same way ALLAPUZHA in Kerla becomes ALLEPY,KOZHIKODE becomes CALICUT,Kolkata renamed as CALCUTTA.Thanks to LORD MACKALEY.Though CHINA is having MANDERIN as their official language ,still they r progressing at the RAPID pace, jus becomes they r showing commitment to their work, supported by their Policy Makers. In INDIA even Road Overbridges less than 500 Meters take 5-8 Yers for Completion.JAGO GRAHAK JAGO!!!!!!!!!! :)
And we thought the Mumbai Worli Sea link bridge is the best.....Media plays a great role in projecting a city and i bet Rediff has a great deal of involvement in bending our minds!!!..There are far better bridges in India...we see it now...and still more to go...considering the Shimla one,the one in the south with the waterfall in the background..and many more...cant recollect!!!
that bridges looks good and i am surprised to see so many beautiful bridges in India. But I hope that they are maintained regularly.
Just read in mumbaimirror few days back that a new bridge is coming up in thane for trains. and that it is going to cover up a historic bridge- the bridge over which first passenger train ran in India in 1853 between bombay and thane. Seeing in paper i remembered going over this a few times but the historic factor never occured to me. If this was in some other country it would have been a tourist attraction.
Somany historic things in mumbai though ,that people around take for granted. This could also be so in other cities

The bridge shown in the picture is not a right one.Actual Road cum rail bridge picture is not that one.The shown picture is of third rail bridge in Rajahmundry
although it does highlight our prowess but the writer fails to see that most of these accomplishments are decades old. Only a couple are modern. we still live the old times..really from an infrastructure and engg perspective what have we really delivered to the world in the lats decade..nothing much..theres too much potential and we are waiting to relaize it as is the rest of the world
