If they use the same FIAT diesel engine as in Swift / Dzire / SX4, they would get least 90 bhp.

I think so, you are right. For a 7 seater, 1.3L engine is less. Maybe a ramped up version of OMNI van, disappointing.

Anything wrong in taking that for lunch? Goans and Uttar Kannadigas are also quite fond of fish curry.

For lesser price, how they will supply. Why you require more power?our road condition and hurdle toll tax system make you powerless.
The above pics are concepts only shown in 2010 auto expo. Maruti will deviate from this(ref. A-star).a possible launch at 2012 auto expo??
RIII will be smaller than aria/xylo(not mini), so can not be compared. 7 lacs price tag wud enourage many, with features mentioned... need confirmation.

7lacs 7seater power be damned will make a game changer- in taxi segment only. All others like inn0va,xylo are priced higher

So what's new? The whole world is moving to Hybrids / Electric Vehicles / Alternate Fuel vehicles ( like Fuel Cells). But here is one company, a monster created by the Govt of India, which is either immune to petrol / diesel price rise, or completely bankrupt when it comes to launching eco friendly / non fossil fuel powered cars. Maruti dumps 1 lakh cars a month on our roads.Imagine how much imported oil can be saved if this company conciously decides to go green.
Looks and design appears good. But power appears too low. There is another model Maruti Eeco, but it comes without AC and people have difficulty getting AC fitted in it. It is not clear whether this will continue in this model too.
The engine volume of 1300 cc is too low especially for diesel. Will it be able to go up a slope with 7 passengers? Chevy Tavera has 2.0 litre engine; so does their sedans Optra and Cruze. Think about it Maruti - go to 1.6 to 1.8 at least.

Maybe the author of this article pulled the 1.3L fact out of thin air? Some of these authors have no idea what they talk about.

Actually it is a 1248 cc diesel engine from FIAT. Generates 90 bhp. A Ford 1.4 diesel is still at 68 bhp. Tata Sumo started with a 68 bhp engine, now with turbo charger has reached 90 bhp. Check the power of Optra and Cruze. Should not be much more. What matters for a diesel engine is the torque it produces. Check out the comparison of diesel engine sedans on any auto website.
