She is displaying advertisent worth few thousands (may be in lakhs)in news papers showing inauguration of computerised ticket counters with a function spending few thousands. The net target is to capture power in West Bengal.Let her enjoy the power no one resisting her .But who the painter is Subhaprasanna or Saoli Mitra to be in the railway consultative committee who are having no knowledge about Indian Railways. She could have choosen some one who is good railway expertirrespective of party colour. She lack of farsight is the net result of the possibilities that are echoed in news.

hahaha. if you handover to ambanis, after a year, you will be asked to pay Rs. 500/- just to have a look at the trains, forget about travelling, that will cost a fortune. Just see what Mallya did to Air deccan, and other airlines. Can you travel at the rate which air deccan offered a few years back ?.

ITS VERY EASY TO CRITICIZE A PUBLIC SECTOR GIANT, WHY NOT U PEOPLE TAKE A LEAP ON THE WELFARE PART VIZ, CONCESSIONS, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, THIS PUBLIC SECTOR EXTEND TO THE POORER AND WEAKEST SECTIONS IN OUR SOCIETY, WHICH WE CAN NEVER EXPECT WHEN IT GOES TO THE THE HAND OF CORPORATE SECTORS. CRITICISM TO THE EXTEND IS BETTER WHEN AIMED FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE THIS KIND RESPONSIBLE PUBLIC SECTORS. WHEN U SAY ABOUT THE PROFIT INCLUDE ALL THE SOCIAL UPLIFT MENT ACTIVITIES AND THE ORDINARY MAN'S WELFARE MEASURES FIVEN BY THIS PUBLIC SECTOR VIZ, SEASON PLUS IZZAT TICKETS, WHICH THIS CORPORATE PEOPLE WILL NEVER DO. WHEN INDIAN RLY MAKES PROFIT NATION BETTERS, WHEREAS AN RKY UNDER AMBANI OR TATA MAKES PROFIT ONLY THOSE INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR SERVANTS BETTERS. I EXPECT THESE COMPANIES WILL EVOLVE IN THE FORM OF EAST INDIA COMPANY WHICH INVADE INDIA A CENTURY BACK.

The jealosy of someone becoming richer is the only left leaning policy has taught us through years. While these capitalists do become rich, in the process of they expanding they create a lot of jobs, and deserving right people can come up purely based on their merit. So called socialism only encourages jealosy with no one benefitting. Let us help some one become rich and make the country richer!!!

Misplaced Priorities
by Rahul Miano on Jan 30, 2011 12:55 PM

The ever absentee Rail Minister Ms. Banerjee has got her priorities misplaced from the day she entered the Rail Bhavan with her Perennial Absence from her Delhi Office and camping all the time in calcutta to indulge in state politics to run railways in loss.

If this is the type of future CM the Bongs in Kolkotta want, then the apt saying for Calcuttans is" Vinasha kale Vivpareetha Budhi".

God save the WB and its Bongs from such negligent and irresponsible Future CM.

nO doubt on that the CPM is lot better than this crap lady...am a tamil in bengal...i find the politicians there much better than the dmk and admk and corruption is minimal in bengal politics....i think any mistake on the part of the CPM is blown out of proportion by the media....if this lady rules bengal for five years...then cpm can come back to power and retain the power for another fifty years....the youth of bengal doesnt seem to understand the importance of the pro-poor work done by the cpm.

Railways under Mamta

The PM should announce two ministers for Railways. One for West Bengal and one for the rest of india. Presently the rest of India is not represented. Mamta is working as if West bengal is the only state in India.

its quite natural for people to have affinity to their family and state. mamata is no exception. Jaffer Sherif, brought in wheel and axle plant to Bangalore and created Mysore Zone and Hubli (SWR). He created a lot of employment for the locals and tamils. When Balu of DMK was MP and was Surface Transport Minister, a lot of projects were sanctioned to Chennai - ofcourse he looted few crores crores with the approval of his electorate with promise he will provide saree, blouse, dothi, towel, gas connection, TV, etc.

We need to scrap planning commission. Allocation several crores of rupees of unfeasible projects can certainly result in losses. Make action plan for every three months and implement what exactly was planned. DON'T INCREASE FARES BUT ENHANCE EFFICIENCY!!!

these two scoundrels are retained in UPA due to congress hunger for power in local elections.
These two were dead against Sonia in the past and had abused her but now they have been gifted with plum post by shameless congress. This clearly shows the congress mentality - for power they are prepared to loose self-respect and dignity.

Cut the splurge f the babus !
by vin nel on Jan 30, 2011 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

The Railways, the largest employer in the world is one of the most efficient run organisation in this country. The ordinary low level workers right from the Train driver, Station Master, Pointsman who man the tracks day-in-day out and others have put in an excellent job which have made crores of us commuters to travel cheaply and safely. But its the Civil servants who in the Railway Administration who have splurged the revenue of the Railways. The number of posts of such Civil servants which should be in a minimum, however is in a huge percentage in the Railways, with most of them are highly corrupt. These officers sit back in their plush AC chambers, travel in 1st AC Bogies, use Office cars to ferry their children and wives, have a huge 6-Room Government quarters and would you believe, just like the British officers they still have a 'Bunglow Peon'- who is on Railways pay-roll, to cook their food and clean their house. These Civil-servant Babus have created many Railway PSU's and allotted the duties of the Railways to them. The thing which would have taken 100 Rs. for the Railway to do, is done by these PSU's at Rs.1000. These Railway PSU's have high administrative expenses and hence the Railways are now bleeding. Its a matter of time the 'Railway' becomes like 'Air-India', unless the Railway Unions which is the strongest in India steps in.
God save the Railways!

that may be the largest..but dont say its efficient..Its pathetically run and a definite example of how not to run an organization like many other psu units. It happens here only whwre shit is flying out of train..completely uncivilized way of handling things..phewwww...

i do not know about the other zones. But South Zone and South West Zones are efficient to the extent of 97%. The only problem with SW Zone is upkeeping of the compartments which is totally discarded. Many complaints both written and spoken have fallen on deaf ears. All major stations of South Zone are very well maintained and the compartments are also kept neat and clean.
The railway station at the capital has to be improved a lot and made passenger friendly.
