Never fly with an Indian airliner or Indian pilot
by Virendra Patel on Apr 29, 2011 06:06 PM  | Hide replies

I would never want to risk my life, flying with an Indian airliner or with an Indian pilot, who is not safety conscious and confident. I tend to fly with Irish or Gulf airliners, which are more reliable, comfortable, cleaner and luxurious.

by VIVEK on Apr 29, 2011 06:02 PM

First you bring a in compometent beurocract to manage a company to make a company sick and then justify it closure so that private airlines can have free run.
Height of corruption.

Air India,The White Elephant

With such a huge debt on the head of Air India and pilots going on strike during the peak sea
son the best option is to close it down especi ally when the pilots themselves have walked in to the trap facilitating closure. In case there are road blocks to closure,Air India Management
would be in a position for some arm twisting by compulsory reduction in the salary for all the employees right from Chairman downwards,to turn around the company. But the million dollar question is, are the Govt. Babus capable of it?

Erstwhile Air-India Ltd was very good company without babus and ministers interference. The butcher of erstwhile Air-India Ltd Mr Praful Patel who merged two entities, Air-India and Indian Airlines is the man responsible for the sorry state of affairs. There should be enquiry in to the merger and the placing orders for large number of aircrafts. How much backhander was received, it will another 2-G scam by the current government. The former aviation minister distributed all the lucrative routes and facilities to private airlines at the cost of the state owned airlines and there should be enquiry about the conspiracy to wind up the sate owned airlines. The illogical merger should be done away with and there should be sale of shares in both the airlines to the public and the management should be taken out immediately from babus of aviation ministry and ministers. Let us be proud of our national airline-if are true Indians, as it has come to the rescue of the country in times of need in the transportation of Indian across the globe in many instances over the years when private airlines did not care

Because
by paul sebastian on Apr 29, 2011 05:59 PM

Because the foreign carriers are eager to eat the share they can get from this. Look at Railways and Postal services. If there is no outside interest and intervention, India can work better. Thank you Foreigners, why your countries are poor? So much so that you have to do all the dirty work with developing nations like India?

Too bad for all those who work for such purposes.

Strike in AI
by swami pudipeddi on Apr 29, 2011 05:53 PM

The Govt. should not succumb to the demands.
Come what may should be the attitude and these people should be given marching orders. There are several operators in this field and Govt. should consider hiring their Air Craft to the willing operators and get off form this field.

Shonalee,

Contrary to what you have mentioned it is the pilots of erstwhile Indian Airlines (Domestic Carrier) who are striking work and demanding parity with fixed pay component of erstwhile Air India(International Carrier) Pilots.

The author is not aware which group of pilots are on strike. Is it worth reading the article?
