Why Outsourcing to India makes sense !
by Count Meout on May 03, 2011 04:32 AM  | Hide replies

This article shows why Outsourcing to India or any other Developing country makes sense. Using Taxi fare as an index, the cost of 3 km ride in Munich or Tokyo cost anywhere between Rs.800-600, whereas in Mumbai or Manila it costs between Rs.40-50. Of course, Taxis in Munich and Amsterdam are Mercs E200 !!

I guess the author has not compared the quality of the Cars. If we use the same taxis as in Munish & Amsterdam the fare would be around Rs.10000/= in India.

Conversely, if Munich uses Tata Nano or Tata Indica, they can reduce the taxi fare from Rs.800 to may be Rs.200, since the Taxi Drivers in Munich or Amsterdam will be more expensive, even if the Taxi driver happened to be a 'Desi'. In which case, India will end up exporting more cars, which Merc or Volkswagen do not want. They would rather have an European car as a taxi than an Indian or Chinese made car. So much for Free Trade and so much for 'Globalization' !!

according to your article minimum fare in delhi it should be Rs 42 (not 22). That is 20 (2*11). That is for 3 km right.

Rediff editors have once again shown that they have their brains in their backsides..There is no point in comparing taxi fares of various countries by comparing it to Indian Rupees..The fare has to be looked at in respect of the economy of the country..Why do you mislead the public.

Taxi fare in Delhi

I have not seen any taxi/three wheelers charging according to meter in last 10 years. As frequent traveler out of the country ,I feel more comfort in Singapore and London. In Mumbai taxi from Airport will charge almost 30% more as meter are always manipulated. It is better to come out and take taxi
from outside .
