Why there's huge interest in India's largest IPO by CIL?
by appalla shankar on Oct 18, 2010 10:39 AM

There is good amount of black after the CWG to be converted to white many are hand in gloves with it. As far as prospects are concerned this scrip is sure to lose the MV within a period of a month. Speculators be ware investors be prepared for secondary market transactions on that costing Rs 110 per scrip within two months from now.

IPO'S ON COAL & POWER
by Sameer on Oct 18, 2010 10:36 AM

Since the past few years, we have been seeing several IPOs being launched, by several top corporates which have raised funds from public by establishing facts which are doubtful. Similarly two of the top cortporates who had floated IPOs for Power Projects, each claiming to have their own coal resources in Indonesia and other places. I have been regulating all these since many years and have come to the conclusion that, the claims made by these corporates about thier resources are questionable. A recent article in the Economic Time about one group claims to own a coal resources close to 10 Billion Tons ! Absolutely rubbish and fake! I believe that in order to proove a reserve, one needs to carry out a JORC (Joint Ore Reserves Committe) survey which has to be again confirmed and authenticated by an external agency and the financial institutions before anyone enters into an IPO and swindles millions of rupees of the public. has anyone actually gone down into the details of these assets and claims? Most of the due dilligence is carried out by agencies, who merely rely on the existing reports and have no first hand experience to judge the real facts. its high time the government authorities, take a deep look into these matters and find out the facts. All the claims are merely and eyewash ! Beware investors before putting our money in power companies. Coal India is excluded as they have already proved of what they are!

Is CIL a good share to invest for Retail Investor? Hope we all invest like Relinace Power/NHPC and end up burning our hands. Can any expert suggest what is the best decision with Coal India?

As an expert said, Reliance Power was basically an IPO based on a ppt and hopes. CIL has real assets, a real balance sheet, and hopefully, real profits. So comparison is really not fair. Frankly, if you believe all the numbers on their books,l and their asset base, then this issue is worth subscribing to right upto a price of RS 300. At A retail price of Rs 200 odd, it is a great long term or even short term buy.

it is a good share for long term no doubt about as CIL is the only mining company having best expertise in mining for last so many year. No doubt about the profit as it is a prestigeous Public Sector company having Navaratna status and now after IPO it will be awarded Maharatna

Hi,

Well it is a good option to invest because this time the stock exchange rose in a right methodology. When the reliance IPO had launched they priced it according to the value of the IIP index. This is a good deal.
