So many airline companies besides the US based GECAS have already given orders for them !

Perhaps they may not buy from HAL if the latter does manage to make a passenger aircraft !

No reason why India can not create something similar......
by Globalcrusador on Nov 18, 2010 04:30 PM  | Hide replies

Indians have done exceedingly well in the case of IT software & computers besides automobiles.
There is no reason, given the right selfless leadership, we can not produce planes that are in the same class as Boeing & Airbus. May be initially, we may have to import the engines but then in aircraft manufacture, no single manufacturer ever makes anything.

Conceptualizing RTA70/90. Talking about 2016/18 delivery. If they choose their partners properly, it might be a reality. Its going to be a public-private partnership affair and Madhavan Nair is heading it.

Madhavan Nair (ex-HAL) is a capable man and I am sure they can come up with something sooner than 2016/18 with a pragmatic design, if they can cut down on the bureaucratic delays.

this is a good move..

boeing and airbus engage in price competition more fiercely now..

aahh v hav a new player in market now..

the demand for aircraft would multiply in 5 years time..

v should thank Chinese manufacturer for this development,,

Chinese stuff is of cheap quality.

I hope this aircraft will not have the same quality as the other chinese goods, otherwise this aricraft will result in reducing the world population.

good thought. Chinese and Japanese cannot be believed/trusted on the product quality. They are more or less equal to Indian standards as far as quality of material concerned. Most of the components of the machinery definitely are not precision and only sheer luck plays with regard to durability and reliability. Can you imagine a CFL lamp of 20W is imported at MRP Rs.5? and LED rechargeable table lamp @ Rs.15?A 2AA torch cell @Re.20 per piece?

I do not doubt Japan as they are well known for their quality process. But Chinses are a different breed all together. They only believe in manufacturing and never bother about the quality. They even do not have a QC process. Manufacture cheap and sell cheap is their only objective.

The Chinese may not need you at all !

They already have 100 orders for the aircraft (including from the US based GECAS) !

Both countries are developing rapidly, one in manufacturing all kinds of bigger and bigger products, the other in bigger and bigger scams, while the "revered" PM looks on like a smiling Buddha !!

I would rather fly in Chinese plane than Indian made plane. They build most of their fighter planes. India has been talking of LCA for 25 years and its still nowhere close to production. It will take another 15 years to be ready by which time it will be obsolete.

I don't like China, but this is truly an achievement. Greater than sending spacecraft to moon.

Good step !!!
by globalian on Nov 18, 2010 02:27 PM  | Hide replies

Hope it pass through all quality checks required for civilian air craft. I suppose it was not made with any second quality peripherals.

Why they are still imitating the predecessor's design for eastern production. What is the new with this eastern challenge? Have we addressed any of the problems what western flight manufacturers are facing?

Atleast India can think of "Home grown" concept for imitating to make it viable for all common people in India. Let the "Smart thinkers" of "buying" anything from others keep their mouth shut.

With chinese planes, we may even think of cheaper air travels in future.
