DTC Revised
by mandook on May 15, 2010 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

DTC can be further revised. If Indian politicians in power are serious in bringing back the black money amounting to several thousand billion dollars in Swiss banks, and they bring back this amount, there will be no need to have any Incometax law in India for the next fifty years.

penalising success
by Sandeep Mukherjee on May 15, 2010 12:22 PM

india loves failures! india penalises success!our culture in the colonial period and subsequent socialist period has developed into a paradise for sob stories.. the more u cry the more u r heard! bandhs, violence, rail roko, rasta roko, looting, arson, intellectuals directly supporting maoist mass murderers ! india is a story of glorified anarchy with various high sounding theories as alibi..
so loot the hard working tax payer.. squeeze more and more out of his pocket thru organised rangdari taxes! squander all the tax money on VVIP security and other white elephants thru pay commissions.. NREGA etc ! thousands of crores of tax money get wasted in the name of development and doles and alms and subsidies.. and then tax payers are abused for having "black money " wow!

Salaried - sitting duck for the government
by dinakaran rengachary on May 15, 2010 12:04 PM  | Hide replies

The salaried class can do nothing but bear. Why remove housing loans? What about all those who have bought houses because of the tax benefit? Are they supposed to sell their houses? If this rule is implemented, the housing market, including housing finance companies will crash

income tax breeds inefficiency, you earn more you pay more tax, to earn more you have to work hard, simple logic why work hard and fill the Govt coffers which any way will be used up by some sarkari babu for his/family foreign trip

I dont think what you say it makes sense. Do you mean just because you need to pay 30 rupees as tax, you are ready to forego earning Rs.70 which you can spend/save/do what ever you want....I agree with you that the spending by government needs a lot of improvement...So we need to think ghow to make government more accountable rather than being pained over tax....

Dont worry
by Madhava Rao on May 15, 2010 11:33 AM  | Hide replies

Only handful of Indians have Income above 10 lakhs per year. Then why should worry the majority people whose income is not even crossed 2 lakhs per year! In the present high cost living, the govt should spare people whose income is below 3 lakhs per annum from income tax net. Let rich people pay more since they have capacity to do so. But middle and low income salaried people should be totally spared from income tax.

those who do not have high salary govt has n numbers of schemes eg Rs 3/Kg of wheat/rice. NREGA to name a few. which are for poor to lower middle classes. Remember its rich who drives the economy, they create indirect employment. Even when you see your car is checked by security guard a mall, its indirect employment. Govt should think of all not either of.

all these benefits are swallowed by politicians who know the loopholes. And why not tax politicians on their income by way of salaries and perks as MPs and MLAs and Councillors?

I fully agree with you. The one who earns two or three lakhs will not save much. When he loses th job or in any emergency situation at home , he is totally helpless. Why to tax him. The one earning above 5 lakhs or above should be taxed.
I do not agree with govet not allowing rich people ( above 10 lac) to save tax. A man earning 10 lakhs will have 7 lacs to spend p.a. if he does not save for saving tax. Then the extra money spent on purchase/ rent will create inflation. cost of things will go high when the middle class fell the pinch.

So to that effect the DTC should be amended to raise tax exemption slab to 3 lakhs at least. rest is OK.
