young fella , i can only offer u my sympathy../i dont know why your father decided 2 have 3 kids when i am sure he couldn't support even one when he had a job...all Indians , especially north of the Vindhyas should seriusly think abt family planning,or else our coutry is doomed

George, I partly agree with your message but you seems tobe anti towards north Indians well I am from south I see here lower middle class with 5-6 kids who can't afford to feed 2times.

The solution to the problem is to educated people on this whch I think goverment is partially doing but again one cannot force some to limit his/her family.

Is it helping the poor child?
by caruthedath gopalakrishnan on Jul 14, 2010 05:08 PM  | Hide replies

By writing this article and giving the photograph of the 11-year old boy, you have done a grave injustice to him. Most probably he will lose this job as the government authorities will be after his employer and charge him for engaging child labour. The poor boy will lose his job and whatever little earning he is getting now to educate his brothers.

Has the writer given any thought to this before writing ?

Making a law against child labour is not going to help if the concerned family is not looked after properly. When the alternatives are NOT provided by the government, it is better for a child to work than to beg or to stay educationless

THE POOR GUY WILL LOSE HIS JOB, THAT IS TRUE. HIS EMPLOYER WILL THEN PAY OFF THE AUTHORITIES ..AND THEN EMPLOY ANOTHER CHILD LABOURER. WE ARE LIKE THAT ONLY PAL

Is there anyway that public can help him, like providing him with some money so that he can go to school like his brothers.
Contact details will do good.
Thanks

But again its one of the grains in the sea, there are several people like this. We the public can help one or few but what about the millions unknown. We should support NGO, do dharma like giving jobs to people like(to their parents, so that they can send them for school)and finally its up to the people in power to change themselves and change others

Earning at the Age of 11

This is very interesting. What are our netas doing. All the debates on the NDTV and other national forum about the abolish of child labour or the right to basic education is a myth. Now a days no one wants to stick to their words or policies. The Discussions on the NDTV on every friday is a fools paradise. They just discuss snd discuss snd discuss without any result nor do they follow it up after the discussion. They just have the debates for TRP rating and getting the best awards.

That there are parents who are self centered and mean to their children. Why would they breed 5 when only 1 can be fed. Why not just have 1 and support whole heartedly for his/her education. What a waste of life.
