TATAs stand out among otherwise loot oriented private sector of India. They also make India proud by their overseas acquisition, JLR, Corus.

Kudos to TATA Group
by Darvin Chaudhary on Jul 02, 2010 10:43 PM

I heard about reducing carbon emission in TATA Steel. This is the only difference in TATA and others. I really appreciate effort done by TATA. They are really innovative guys. Question is not about their contribution in present. Question is about setting milestone in society by their CSR activity. One or other day other company will follow these benchmark and standard then we can see real impact of these activity.

Goverment should also appreciate their effort. For Example.. they can give tax relexation for such companies in the ratio of such efforts. For Example... 20% of power generated with the help of such effort.

Localized Power Generation controlled by Panchayats
by Ramasubramaniam Iyer on Jul 02, 2010 10:19 PM  | Hide replies

I believe localized power generation using abundant resources of that particular area will reduce incentive for distribution theft, distribution losses.
Eg say we have a district which constantly reels under water shortage but has abundant sun or wind supply we can build localized power systems based on those supplies. Alternately allow the individuals to develop their own energy. Eg allow a farmer to generate own electricity to power his pumps using Solar etc. That way you will not consume more than you need for the simple reason that when you own something you will spend it only wisely.

Some folks on whom Swadesh was inspired showed us the way of localized power generation. Its not enough to just watch those movies but take it to next level and implement it wherever possible.
And thanks to the moderator for removing the abusive message

As far as I know you cannot generate your own electricity. The moment you do that government will swoop down on you. May be I am wrong.

Tata Chemicals - Pulses
by govind gadiyar on Jul 02, 2010 07:12 PM  | Hide replies

In Tamilnadu Tata Chemicals is promoting growing of pulses in order to reduce the imports and lower the cost. Only Tata's can think on these lines.

Ratan is really Bharat Ratna
