Come on India u can do it
by Vikas Punia on Jul 03, 2010 08:33 AM  | Hide replies

Dear frnds i m electrical engineer: my dream seems to be materialising,,, my dream is that every indian should have enough electric power to use. presently despite consistent efforts by govt,,we have a huge power shortage,,,so i have decided to work for generation of solar/wind energy by individuals for the individuals (domestic consumers),,,it will be a great help for govt, when every indian will generate electricity for their own use,,, my slogan will be,,, bahar jitni dhoop or hawa,,,room utna thanda,,, but i will only be able to start working on this after i retire,,,one day my village will generate the electricity it needs at its own,,,and after some days /years all domestic consumers of my country,, i m proud of my countries Govt and business men,,,for coming out with innovative ideas,,,come on india u can do it,,best of luck to tata's,,,

You are right.Tatas rreally deserve to be complimented. It is the only group which has so many diverse business interests. If the other big groups like Reliance, Birlas, Mahindras have similar thinking, India would be a better place to live.Keep it up Tatas !

Good Idea
by Rock Solid on Jul 03, 2010 12:23 AM  | Hide replies

I think it will be a good idea but wind mill will slow down the air current... but it is still far far away jus lik oil when we started using it was abundant and no carbon emission issue no environment issue nothing but now.

As for rice barn... it is also used for animal feed. if it is used for this then god forbade us what will happen of those poor animal and poor people....

I hope this co does the proper study... if possible...

windmills on rooftops are a bad idea for the local birds
by wizardo id on Jul 02, 2010 11:02 PM  | Hide replies

windmills should be large and slow moving. having a windmill that is small will seriously damage the bird population. having the same in cities is not a bad idea though - since there's not much rare birds in the cities. a mixed approach will be good. solar water heaters, some solar cells, reduce power consumption a bit etc.

there's no universal magic bullet to the energy crisis

There is a hue and cry on the bird hits by Windmills. When crores of Chicken, goats, sheep etc., are killed and eaten,we can't help one or two birds die due to hit of the Windmills. In Mangolia 1,50,000 Wind Chargers work mainly to power a TV and a Tube Light.

right. a cage over the fan like in a table fan could solve the small issue. and, birds are no more bird-brained!

The Wind Turbine size now in the market varies in 10 meters diameter to 100 metere diameter with tower height of maximum 100 metres. Wind turnine changes according to the direction of the wind(Yawing). I hope you now understand about the size of the Wind Turbines.

TATA Group is great
by Anumakonda JAGADEESH on Jul 02, 2010 10:59 PM  | Hide replies

I am glad to find TATA Group’s concern to serve rural people with advanced technologies.TATAs reputation in the service of the Nation is matchless. I have been involved in the Design,Demonstration and Dissemination(3D) of several low cost technologies like Vertical and Cylindrical Solar Water Heater,Simple Solar Drier,Safe Drinking Water for All by Solar Disinfection, Pedal powered washing machine,Energy Conservation in Irrigation pumpsets,Multiple uses of Gas Stove, Hand operated Battery chararger,Improved Savonius Wind Rotor for Battery Charging,Passive cooling of Houses using Clay Covers, Air cum water Cooler etc., I have innovative Rural Technologies like Rural Industrialisation through Multiple Uses of Crops like Agave Americana,Annona Squamosa(Custard Apple),Water hyacinth, Oil Gloom to Oil Boom-Jatropa etc.,I will be glad to share my experience, expertise and enthusiasm with TATA Power and other Companies in commercialising my Technologies. What is needed for rural technologies to thrive is IMAGINEERING,Imagination and Engineering. A reputed Industrial Group like TATAs can pool Innovative Technologies and commercialise them with the Inventors by creating a VENTURE FUND and SEED CAPITAL.Rural Technologies to succeed need as much psychology as scientific knowledge.Technology is CULTURE SPECIFIC. What is best for Canberra or Los Angeles may not suit Kolkata or Bangalore.
