jim laker, what ever is the colour of US Visa, I am sure they refused Visas to a few Indians for extraneous considerations (the s0n and daughter-in-law of the late Baba Amte - for the funniest reason that they do not have sufficient income to support themselves though both are qualified doctors doing social service) and the other one was the President of Indian Medical Association representing over 184000 qualified doctors in India as he was a muz1im!!!

JGN the policy they brought in place would be reactionary once as ppl who sing patriotic songs over here In India dont think for a second time when they realize that they can fly to US and they don't waste time in considerin even they just run. How much of those (cheap labor) should ppl in a country suffer???
Well, this is nothing compared to what we did to an American family who was on multiple entry tourist visa in India and decided to go to Srilanka for New Year Celebration. When they came back, Indians deported them on the pretext of new rule where you need to have two month gap between visits.

I would not consider that out of the ordinary. The US has far more stringent and at times unreasonable immigration rules.

One example - someone is on H-1B for 5 years in the country...he/she loses job and they have to leave the country right away because they become illegal instantaneously.

this rule has been there always. What do you want the unemployed loitre all ove US?It is not like th e unemployed roaming in bombay.

Rule being always there does not make it reasonable. Does one not need time to pack and leave? How about 30 days to leave or something like that?

Exactly..what is bad about the new visa rules that India has. The rules are set by the countires for foreign nationals to follow.

if you lose your job then you do get 30 days either to find some other company who will then get ur h1-b visa reinstated or to leave... dont always listen to bird-brained morons who give spread these rumors that you have to leave next day...
One of those indians should hire a good lawyer and sue US govt. This H1-B was approved by USCIS and visa was stamped by US Consulate. So, if 2 US govt bodies are not in sync with the 3rd, it is not applicant's fault. And worst case, dump US. Explore other options. It is not end of life.

You comment goes on to show your immaturity.
Better learn things about H1B and their rules before commenting.
I will support US in this regard as this is a long due one. Indian IT companies or consulting companies have been using loopholes or years if not decades to bring people from India for work when they clearly have no work ready for them.
Do I even have to mention the horrible things Desi consultants and consulting companies do in USA. Everything they do are completely illegal. if ever anyone sue US govt for their illegal activity, then its the person who sue will land in jail without any doubt
Re: Sue them!!
by arvin g on Jan 30, 2010 09:11 PM
most h-1b visa holders from india are fraudsters... who got the visa by paying equally fraud companies money...

Visa stamped in the passport will simply give the "eligibility" for the visa holder to "apply" for admission into the United States at the Port of Entry. The admission into the United States is not automatic based on the visa stamp in the passport. It is like passing grade 12 will give someone the eligibility to apply for admission into a degree college. But admission into the degree college is not automatic.
Why are all of us weeping on the issue? Just think, most of the H1B sorts have studied in reputed govt professional institutions at subsidised costs. Should not they remain in India and contribute to its development? But no, in their case personal ambitions far out weigh their country's interests.'Traitorous' attitude, isn't it? Have your fun in America now, fellas!!

Our very nature is submissive to foreigners-Whites- despite 62 years of freedom-hence these kind of rush to many countries especially to US.Our students are far more better than other country ones, and they all should join to do something better in exchange for their capability,Intelligence etc; I saw many youngsters with IIT / IIM degrees starting with ambition and have come up.Let our government make use of their talents rather than dumping them in the US. The advise 'to stay back in India and contribute to India's development' can be considered provided Govt. of India abolishes reservations in higher education, job & promotions etc. and honours only merit based selection.
