Great news
by alby on Feb 12, 2010 11:27 AM  | Hide replies

People like Kishore mahbhubani and Jaques Martin has already written books on the shift of power taking place from West to the East, both economical and geo politics lead by China and India.

After all India already has achieved so much in last 2 decades despite of its shortcomings.

India has the world’s second largest army, fourth largest air force and fifth largest navy; which has 15 million new mobile phone connections each month; which launches spacecraft around the moon; which has five of the world’s 10 richest persons; which has the world’s first billion dollar home (actually $2 billion), doesn’t need charity or aid. India is the second largest investor in Britain after the US; in the past couple of years it has bought steel giant Corus, Land Rover and Jaguar, and has donated millions of dollars to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
The fact is that India has one of the largest economies in the world - perhaps the fourth largest as per PPP. In the first 11 months of 2008, Indian companies invested $50 billion (that's more than half the GDP of NZ) in countries such as the US, UK, Vietnam, The Netherlands, etc.

Ans its army is dep[endant on foreign Arms form Bofors to AK-47 !even after thirty years ut has yet to devlop indegenious Tanks. and Army is well only think of its salaries and its former General Malik writes to PM for raise and he never bother abouts 125 indians who r not even having two square meals a day!Army is more ken Corruption and Sukna deal is one of that small example !
All mobiles in India r chinese and so r the Telecommunication eqipment !they r all imported !so it has 10 richest persons but poorest billions of the world too!
And very true Newzeland with population of 4 millions is good to compare with !even australia has mere two crore population and its size is thrice the India !And yet most corrupt middle class childern will give their life to settle in in Newzealand or even australia ....it is time that corrupt 15% Who r expoliting 85% Childern of mother India be elimanted as they r worst enmies of the 85% Indians !So when will 85% Indians awake because it is them who only can take India forward to Proletrian rule !

5 of the world's 10 richest people. ha ha. Do you know Britain invests a LOT more into India than the pittance india puts into britain. Its only 4th largest by PPP, but not by pure GDP. And by GDP per capita it is a poor poor country.

I like the way you compare stuff to small country like new zealand. Because thats the only thing india can be a poor country that compares itself to rich tiny tiny countries.

Indian techies
by caruthedath gopalakrishnan on Feb 12, 2010 11:18 AM

It may be that Indian techies in India have not developed a single world class product. But several NRI techies have done wonderful developments in the US and Europe.

We should encourage such people to return to India and help in the development of our country as a technology development hub for the world. We must make situations which are conducive for such reverse migration. The sooner it is done the better it is for India to have a major share in the world technology market.

Sri Lanka massacred up to 40,000 Tamil civilians – former U
by Nethaji on Feb 12, 2010 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

Sri Lanka’s military massacred as many as 40,000 Tamil civilians in the final onslaught against the Liberation Tigers in 2009, according to a former United Nations official with detailed knowledge of events, press reports said.

The former United Nations’ spokesperson in Sri Lanka, Gordon Weiss, has resigned from the UN after 14 years and returned home to Australia, where he was interviewed by ABC News. “He’s now free to speak openly about the situation in Sri Lanka, for the first time and does so candidly and unflinchingly,” the media agency said.

During the war time, many rediff users wrote in the discussion board that the Srilanks govt is trying to protect the civilians from the Tamil tigers, actually the truth is the other way around.

I bet the fellow who wrote this article has no clear idea what it means. Sounds like the hollow language used by MBAs to describes things they do not know well.

What the heck is "corporate information technology" and what is the advantage we have over other in this area? Stop the baloney.
