These are the scams that 'hit the headlines' as the report
by piri on Jan 01, 2011 10:54 AM

itself puts it.

What about the scams that do not or never hit the headlines ?

And perhaps the biggest scam of all never is taken as a scam itself by the commoners !

This scam is about diversion of low interest 'agricultural credit' (meant for India's subsistence level farmers as mandated by policy) to completely undeserving crooks !

For instance, 42 % of the agricultural credit disbursed by the Govt. of Maharashtra in the past decade and a half (which amounts to lakhs of crores) was given out not by rural or co-operative sector banks as they should have been but by urban banks situated in the city of Mumbai !!!

Where this low interest credit goes is one of India's well known (to those who care to understand) scandals but which is ignored by the media (at least by the corporatised section of the media) !

If a survey is conducted on how much illegal benefits the corporate sector and other vested interests have garnered through wrongful receipt of such agricultural loans in independent India is done, the amounts will turn out to be of the order of tens of lakhs of crores !

And subsistence level farmers continue as ever to commit suicide at the astounding rate of more than 16000 persons per year (which itself is a gross underestimate considering how the govt. excludes large sections of farmers killing themselves by sleight of hand) !

Why ?

Because we allow only educated and committed people to join us. Anyone cannot become a member.

Prospective members have to pass a written exam in Indian History, Project Management, Mathematics, Economics and civic sense and civic responsibility and hygiene to become eligible even for selection.

We also want physically fit membership.
We check height, Height to weight ratio, eyesight and dental hygiene for prospective members.

We want to ensure that the best bred Indians step forward to assume leadership positions in tomorrow's India.

Only when the best are selected will best results and actions follow.
